gopro action shot basic question here...
got my hands on a hero3 black - just starting to play around with it but my question for all practical purposes when riding solo-
Do you find you can get good relatively high quality images when recording video and taking a still shot from the video in gopro studio or to only get good still images do u have to be using the burst mode for 30/ 3 sec? it just seems sketchy to press a button or hold a remote and set off the beeping right when flying switch into a big jump....how are all these dope mid-air action shots on the gopro instagram being created w/ out sacrificing quality? appreciate the help

Instagram could easily be a screen grab from video. Even though it's roughly 2 megapixels, that is the same resolution as many monitors, and it exceeds the resolution of most phone screens, so it will still look good. The other possibility is using the self time. I haven't used a hero 3 black, but on my original gopro, I think there is an option for a burst of pictures, but a few seconds after the button is pushed.

cool. thanks phawks- still seems obnoxious to be pressing buttons for self timer or burst to time with your take off on a jump which obviously u will be focusing more on. I guess I will just try to pull from video in 1080p

Pretty sure there's a mode where it shoots a certain number of frames per unit time for the entire time it's running. Might not be 30/sec for however long you use it, but you might be able to get a good frame from a lower shot/sec mode.

You can use time lapse mode which can take pictures every .5 seconds.
All times are Eastern (-5)
