ON3P Kartel 98 vs. J Skis AllPlay Twister

ON3P all the way. They really are some of the best out there and if you love your BG's so much, why stray to another brand when you can just downsize for all-mountain shredding? I think you could find some Kartels for a little cheaper than they retail for and they would be worth your time for sure.

The Kartels will charge much harder. I rode a pair of Js for a few runs and they were pretty soft and I was kinda overpowering them a bit. Kartels have the Jmo flex, which is super sturdy and can charge hard.

Well honestly I always choose quality of ski before the graphic, but even if j skis were the best skis ever I don't think if ride them haha. I hate the looks of the twisters. If you did go j skis (don't take my opinion personally) I'd go Canada's or margaritavilles cuz they look a lot cooler IMO

The Kartel is a rad ski. Obviously a different rocker profile than the BG, but I found it surprisingly quiet and stable. Having the symmetrical rocker profile will make it a more pivoty, playful ski than the BG at times, but thats what makes it a perfect addition to your current set up.

I'm trying to decide between the same two skis as well as the kitten factory rayzrblaydz, but would probably be more in the park than anything.

Rayzrblaydz for sure! But between the Kartels and the All Play I would go Kartel. The Kartel will be a more stable ski with a rocker profile that allows them to be playful when you want them to be as opposed to having tips that flop around when you ski hard. I also think ON3P has a better build quality than J.

major differences that made me choose the rayzrbladz over the kartel 98
1. rayz blade is lighter ( not by a whole lot)
2. rayz blade has less rocker roughly 30 cm compared to the kartels 40.5 cm which means more usable edge
3. rayz blade has sickest graphics
4. rayz blade is slightly skinnier, which i wanted in my park/all mtn ski
5. kitten factory is rad anyways

kitten factory uses the same edges, bases, and sidewalls as on3p, so basically you cant go wrong.

Decided to go with the Kartel's just because I love my BG and I know the quality I will be getting.
Now just gotta wait till early Sept so the retailer near me gets them so I don't have to pay out the butt for shipping

Well I just bought some batalla park reapers. A little skinnier underfoot than the other suggestions(kf, ON3P, j) they are 91 underfoot rather than 93-98 depending on what size you get on the other skis. They have 2.5 by 2.5 edges just like the others. And they have a 2.5 base. For how they are built, they are light. My friend got the 183 rayzerblades and my 175 are lighter. Batalla uses a full wrap edge tho, not a 3/4, but it is still lighter. Also these have tip/tail rocker. They are symmetrical. And out of your listed skis, they are the cheapest. Ik there isn't a lot of info on them but if you are interested I can direct you towards some info. Oh and also they are stiffer than j skis and kf. Probably closer to the stiff kartel flex.

Just for clarification so there is no confusion, the statement from their website saying their bases are 2.5mm thick is incorrect (if they are using a 2.5mm x 2.5mm edge). I am a bit confused as their tech page also says they are using a 1.9mm edges, and there is obviously no way you could have a edge that is thinner than the base, due to the edge teeth (which are usually 0.5-0.7mm thick, so you need to add that thickness to the base thickness to get the final edge thickness).

As you can see for the profile 34 edge, the same used by ON3P, KF, Batalla, Jskis, it corresponds to a 1.8mm base.

A 2.5mm thick base would like correspond to an edge around 3.2mm thick. 2.5mm x 2.5mm is the biggest edge we've ever been able to get our hands on.

There would be no physical way to have a 2.5mm base with a 2.5mm edge unless you removed the edge teeth, which would make no sense as the edges would have no way to be held into the ski.

They could conceivably order a 2.5mm thick base and then grind that down to fit with the edges, but it would still result in a 1.8mm thick base and there would be no reason to go about doing that.

So, if they are using a 2.5mm x 2.5mm edge just like ON3P, KF, Jskis, than the base thickness is also going to be the same.

Hey thanks for the info. I called Tj (the owner) a while back before I bought and the park reapers are 2.5 by 2.5, the other skis aren't tho. And it does say 2.5 base. You could be right on how he grinds it down I'm not sure that's just what the website says. But who knows? Maybe they found a way.

I guess everything is just bigger in Texas.

Thanks for considering my skis but I'd agree that you should go with ON3P. If you love the pair you already have from them, there's good chance their other skis will have similar DNA and fit your personal style equally as well in different terrain. Have a great season!

what an absolute fucking man. no other ski company would say that. instead of trying to convince every one that his ski is right for them, he knows that other ski would be a better fit for you and says that. why cant all ski companies act like that, help one another out and make a stronger community.

Agree here man. Instead of defending and promoting his company after a thread that voted against him (I even dissed on one if the graphics on j skis) he helps a skiier out and gives him his advice on what will be his best investment.

I'll try to find the thread again but it was a blister gear review thing with Jason and it's along these guidelines.
