How much coffee is too much

saw something the other day, if you were to drink like 150 cups of coffee you would actually drop dead, but I think less than that amount of water would kill you before the caffeine..

Well the estimated LD50 of Caffeine is about 150-200 per 2.2 pounds in an average person. This varies with someones sensitivity to it however. If you were ingesting it orally you would generally puke before even getting close to the lethal dose of caffeine though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine#Caffeine_toxicity

I generally go 3-4 cups (as in mugs, not the unit of measurement) per day. I've had a lot of people look at me in surprise as if that is some ridiculous amount, but I really don't see how. 1-2 in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, 7pm-ish. Speaking of which, i'm going to go make a cup of coffee.

I never used to drink coffee because I hated the idea of being dependent on a drug to stay awake in the morning.

Then I got an internship at a place with good free coffee this summer and now I'm addicted. It sucks. I'll never have more than two cups though. Normally a hot cup in the morning and an iced after work if I'm doing something that requires me to have energy.

on a work day it normally goes latte with 2 shots before skiing, then a shot of espresso before work, one more shot once I'm at work and then if i need any more after that its drip coffees.

How much coffee I drink is dependent on whether I can be bothered to make it. At home we have an espresso machine which is superb and takes like a minute to use, but at my uni house the time of using a stovetop espresso machine is just too much.

That's the definition of a first world problem.

I only drink about 2 or 3 a day. Sounds like it doesn't do anything for you anymore if your drinking that much man. I mean I love the taste but I'm not trying to poop my brains out either

Drinking a cup right now, I probably do about 3 mugs a day. I either do black, or super sugary, no in between.

Used to crush like 4-5 a day. After a while gets you so hyped up / jittery makes me counter productive. I stick to Tea now. Much less caffeine can't really drink coffee anymore unless im super tired or on a long drive or something like that.

used to drink 10-12 cups a day… working outside in a lumber yard for 15 hour days it was needed. now that i don't work that job anymore i don't even drink coffee anymore. would feel absolutely dead though if i didn't get coffee when i was drinking so much.

/\haha my aunt was married to someone in the army, everyday he'd start off with almost a liter of coffee and 15-20 sugar packets. Coffee i understand, but that much sugar is just fuckin gross, and it doesn't really give you energy in the sense of keeping you awake.
