such an inspiration, to me wanting to rebel and smoke weed and entertain myself when i should be doing something useful with my life.
professional entertainers can mourn his death because you pay their fucking salary. the more kids that skate and buy their labels and games and shit, the more rich they get. so naturally, it is in their best interest to encourage you to support them.
this guy is probably responsible for more crime and vandalism and high school drop-outs than he is inspiration for anything productive and positive in this world.

MikeWeinerONEPeople can feel connections to all kinds of people. Why are you on this website? Most likely to connect with fellow skiers. I would hardly call Jay Adams a "celeb," even though he influenced countless skaters. People like to be around success and have influence in their lives, Jay provided that and it's acceptable to mourn his loss. As it was people to mourn Shane and CR and so many others that have passed away pursuing a similar passion.

Did a little research on the guy... Yeah, it's sad he died. But for him to be an inspiration for kids? Come on. Tony Hawk was the guy I looked up to when I was starting to skateboard, even Mike Mo Capaldi was someone to look up to when I started skating.....
