I adopted the vegan lifestyle almost a year ago now and I'm loving it. Why not change your lifestyle to benefit yourself,the environment,and animals. Any other vegans on ns?

i've been vegan for 3 years. It's not always easy, but it sure beats being a fat slob. I don't like preaching to people though, I think you should do what you want. If you choose to be fat though, please stay the hell away from me, I hate being around fat people, they are disgusting.
first of all, i don't know why im responding to a troll, but vegans eat complex carbs and dont typically eat refined sugars-- they're usually as picky about the things they do eat, as the things they don't...like quinoa...or handmade whole wheat pasta...
also, there are a lot of things that unhealthy people who don't pay attention to their diet eat, that are full of refined sugars and carbs, that wouldn't be vegan-- like cookies and french fries.
in being vegan, you inevitably avoid simple carbohydrates just by the simple fact that many cheap, unhealthy foods are made with animal byproducts.
My roommate is vegan and he brought me a turkey sandwich back from the grocery store yesterday. This is how all vegans should act. It's your choice, don't try to make it mine.

As someone who is in great shape and eats all kinds of food, I stated this before there are a few medical studies that came out that show I'm much healthier than you because I eat meat. humans are omnivores, you should look at the mental health statistics of vegetarians compared to people who people who eat meat.
I can't. Montana State Law requires the consumption of beef by its residents to stimulate the state economy and prevent tofu eating suburbanites from moving here and then acting like they're better than us and our culture.

Eating that food in the summer does not nullify the effects of eating locally in the summer... You could be eating non-local all year round.
That's like saying that you don't make a difference by cycling to work in the summer, because you drive a car to work in the winter...
Also, how does that make "meat FTW"? Any healthy meat-eater is going to be eating vegetables as well. Not to mention that the production of animals requires far more energy than the energy required to transport vegetables.
For a long while I was vegan and gluten free and it made me feel amazing. It was so hard maintaining that though when I went to college so I went back to just vegetarian. I'm all about trying to do my part to prevent harm to animals but I don't think I could go back to vegan just because mozzarella sticks.
If you have already cut out meat, then the tough part is already done. Well, in terms of your nutrition at least - cheese is addictive! Milk and eggs do not contain any nutrients which are not easily replaceable.
Having access to a good healthfood store is nice, because you have lots of variety for the pre-made stuff like veggie burgers, vegan cheese, dips/dressings, etc. But honestly you can get by easily without this stuff.
Making a vegan sandwich takes the same amount of time as a normal sandwich. It's not like you have to make everything from scratch if you are vegan. You can buy granola bars, chips, trail mix, breakfast cereal, canned meals, soups, etc, from any grocery store. Obviously you can get your fresh fruits and veggies from any grocery store as well. Of course it's nicer to have homemade meals, but this is also the case with non-vegan foods.
Once you have been vegan for awhile, it no longer becomes a hassle. you become a ninja at reading ingredients lists, and you know all the basic pre-made foods that are vegan. The only time it's every really an issue is if you go out for dinner. Most places are getting a lot better at accommodating vegans. Sometimes there are virtually no options on the menu, but honestly, eating fries and a salad for one meal is not going to kill you...
