CheddarJackI'd suggest finding a specific interesting topic to focus on since you obviously don't have the resources to make a documentary of freeskiing as a whole. "A weekend in the life of a skier" honestly isn't that exciting. Interviewing professionals will make for a much more professional documentary too.
For example, you could maybe study the work and life of the cat drivers at your local mountain. Nighttime on a mountain in winter makes for a pretty unique environment that could host a pretty cool documentary. Just a quick thought that I liked so I figured I'd share.
