Granite_Statewrxstievo. ull get mad titties
.FRY.an old volvo. they last forever.
iFlipThis may get laughed at but I strongly feel that the best value in a new car is a Honda Fit. It's not exactly the "manliest" car but it has some outstanding features:
40 mpg
Seats fold completely flat so it is perfect to sleep in, super easy to move stuff with (I've put large furniture in a friend's)
Great resale
Very reliable/few things to go wrong
I intend to purchase one as my next car. There are not many manuals to be found but it is worth it to order one/have your dealer get you one. Brand new it comes in at your price point: $15,525. You aren't going to be streetracing in it but you should at least consider it.
YoungDaphYea and they cost an arm and a leg to fix. German cars are nice and fun to drive but a nightmare if they break down. If you have a budget for repairs then buy german but if you would rather have something that is cheap to fix when it breaks go japanese. There's lots of nice subies in your price range out there. I just got an xterra for dirt cheap and they're fun cars too. You can find newer ones for around 10k easily
HolySchimmelI'd go with a family van ;) They're not cool, but cheap, offer lots of space, good mpg and you can still go decently fast (I have no problem going 160-170 km/h in our seat alhambra over longer distances)

theabortionatorCan people read? he's got a 15k budget. He doesn't need the beater car that you on and you think is awesome because it's the only car you've driven.

KravtZ100% Agree with this statement. OP Why buy a used car that will last half as long just to "look cool" and get something nicer and with a higher chance of breaking down. 15k gets you a brand spankin new fit which are not to bad actually. Reliability is through the roof and it will last for years and maintain a decent sell value.
Or you could search for a decent used car. 15k will get you something nice maybe search for a couple year old car to maximize depreciation and minimize miles

THEE_wizardI found a turquoise 96 Jeep Cherokee with a 4" lift; perfect interior, one small dent in the back(hardly even noticeable because of where it is) for only 3k. Sometimes you just get lucky because most I looked at were beat to crap and over 9k. But I would suggest a 94-01 Jeep Cherokee. They are really reliable and not hella expensive.

Mr.MittenI don't know about this. I've had two friends with older Jeep Cherokee's. One of them has had tons of problems for the past year. And my other friend's Cherokee's engine just blew randomly one day. So i wouldn't really call them really reliable.

Granite_State1. Volvo is not German
2. If you actually perform basic maintenance "German"cars will last forever
3. Subies suck, they are rust buckets
4. I only had three points
Randy_Quenchsays the german car owner who has never owned a subaru/other japanese car.
GrizzlyBurrOnce again. Jeep. Can't beat 4WD and you look good doing it. Nowhere you can't go without a jeep.
