Now if anyone knows how those cars work they dont have starters. If you completely stop the vehicle you have to hand push the vehicle to get it going again. I think Tony had the intentions of keeping a low speed and try to scare the shit out of Kevin. Well he came in at him slow and was going to accelerate by him to scare him. But nascar vehicles when started from a slow speed and accelerate to high rpm the vehicle will tend to slightly whip. Which I believe caused Tony to accidently hit Kevin and kill him.

Did you read any part of the thread? The reason for acceleration has already been determined. The car naturally veers left when under acceleration. Tony had a minuscule field of vision and was not looking for a driver on the track. This has already been investigated and no criminal action is being taken (aka he won't get a manslaughter charge).

i'm pretty sure i read yesterday that the investigation is still continuing and stewart is absolutely not in the clear yet, even if they don't determine that he meant to hit him
i don't follow racing but i really don't see why a lot of you think it is out of the question that stewart made a mistake. no, the dude shouldn't have been out on the track, obviously, but i don't follow some of the logic in here that because of the way those cars work, he couldn't possibly have avoided hitting the guy...he's one of the top drivers from what i gather, but some of you are talking like it was totally unavoidable to not hit the guy a lap later, during caution, when he obviously knew something was up on that corner, seeing as he was involved in the accident
i'm not saying at all that i think stewart is definitely guilty, but i think it's extremely brash to claim with total confidence that stewart is guilt free. let the experts make that call. people make some pretty bad decisions in the heat of the moment sometimes

Why Tony hit the throttle will be a MASSIVE point brought up by NASCAR, and in a civil suit when that arises.
It is very clear what happened. Tony hit the gas, causing the rear end of his car to drift the the right. He tried to correct it by getting off the throttle, and counter steering right, but it was too late.
Mind you once again...the whole track was under caution this whole time from Ward crashing
Ward should have never been on the track like that, and Tony really did try to buzz Ward. They are both at fault. Maybe not equally, but there is fault on both sides.

You're right. I read an article that said currently they don't see any criminal intent. My bad.
And we, at least I, am not giving the guy an excuse. I believe he throttled up to make the car veer left when he realized that moron was b-lining it for him. Also, if you notice those fins angle down on the right side obstructing the drivers view almost entirely. And where was Ward? The right side. It was a caution but I don't suspect Stewart knew the guy had exited his vehicle.
I can't see this being Tony's fault. It looks like he tried to swerve out of the way at the last second and was too late. The kid should not have gotten out of the car AT ALL! The track is dimly lit, and he is in all black and there is a fucking race happening. If Ward stayed in the car he would still be here. I am sorry but its Wards fault and I am sorry for the families loss. However Ward almost got hit twice before stewart hit him they should have tried to stop the race immediately, once Ward exited the vehicle.
Whether the track is dimly lit or not, even in broad daylight. NO ONE should be on the track while there is a race occurring. Once you decide to exit the vehicle and put your self at that great of risk, your life is in your own hands. This is where I land. I know for a fact that I don't know fuck all about sprint machines, race etiquette, cautions, etc., but I have eyeballs, and at the very least, a pretty massive and terrible coincidence with fatal consequences laid out before them in slow-motion and it's delusion to deny even the possibility that Stewart played a part on some level. What level, I don't know, and maybe no one does other than Tony Stewart.

I just read your post about how you could identify, and I hadn't really formed that idea before, but I think you're on to something. I can 100% relate to being in an interaction like that, and I can see myself feeling slighted/challenged/shown up in front of an "audience" and one upping the guy. I've been there, and I've done some shit that I knew the instant it was over, or the words were out my mouth, that I fucked up.
I don't think there's even a slight chance that Stewart had any intention to hurt the guy, let alone kill him, but it is absolutely possible that a guy with a temper, a reputation for scrapping and antagonizing might rev his engine, or drive a little too aggressive to basically let his dick swing.
One thing that's occurred to me is that had this incident involved a different driver other than Stewart (or maybe someone else with a penchant for conflict), I don't think the reaction would've looked the same at all, either by fans/general public or officials/the law. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think there's probably a lot of other drivers that would've gotten the immediate benefit of the doubt. That though doesn't change that the video just sort of looks and sounds bad. We see a dozen videos a day on youtube, or tosh.0, or wherever, of accidents and you kind of have gut reactions or intuitions about what's happening. Sometimes it's just a fucked up accident that seems either like dumb (bad) luck, but other times it just looks a bit...different. That's vague and I'm rambling, but whatever, the video just looks bad.
It's a fucked up situation any way you slice it up, and nobody won in the situation, that's for sure. 20 fucking years old and it's over in an instant.
It's funny, it occurred to me yesterday that I don't dislike you anymore. I don't know what it says about me that it seems like all it took was for me to agree with you on a few things in a row.
