Explain the feeling of dropping in for a new trick

Who can explain that feeling when you drop into a kicker to try a new trick of some sort. You know people are watching and all your friends are gathered around... you know what I'm getting at.

Try to explain what's going through your mind at that moment.

I usually try to get in the mindset that I know how to do it and have done it before so now its time to do it like its my job or something.

I've already tried almost every trick I ever want to try, but retrying them after a long time kind of has a similar feeling to the first time I tried it.

So for me, this is usually what goes through my head:

I'll be standing there ready to drop and stuff. Pretty nervous usually depending on the trick. I'll tell myself that I'm gonna do it, stomp it, and ride away thinking damn that wasn't so bad. I try to visualize the trick and what I need to do which gets me pumped but there's still a lot of nerves. It's kind of a mix of fear and confidence.

I'll drop. Right after I drop I'm usually still telling myself that I got it and that I'm gonna stomp it. I have more confidence at this point.

I'll get about halfway to the jump and think fuck what am I doing. I'm still committed to hitting it but this is where I usually doubt myself and freak out in my head. I pretty much loose all confidence.

I'll be about to hit the kicker and I tell myself just to throw it as hard as I can and hope for the best. the moment when you pop and set for your trick it's like your body takes over. It's a weird feeling to explain. It's like you're not thinking about anything but you obviously are. I don't really know how to explain it.

When I land it's the best fucking feeling in the world. Huge adrenaline rush, huge confidence boost, etc. but you really can't even begin to describe the feeling to someone. It's something you have to experience for yourself to understand.

IT all depends on the trick. Their are new tricks that I just decide to do and go do and then there are tricks that I've done, sometimes even several times that I piss my pants dropping into.


I guess you're going to the super gnar stuff. I just try and get psyched up doing other stuff first. Riding with friends, hitting xl booters and stomping some shit get's me pumped. Turn the hip hop up an extra couple notches, visualize the trick, believe I can do it and then fucking send that shit and hope for the best.

i stop thinking about it a few runs before i try the trick (i know im gonna do it, i just try to not overthink)
same thing when i drop: i usually stay really focused and calm. the less stress i got the more chance i have to land the trick, at least thats how it works for me.

Normally I sit and question whether it is going to work. Then I try to talk myself out of it for about 5 minutes. Then I just say F it and go for it. After I land it I usually go over it a few more times. (Depending what it is)

I'm thinking that if I don't actually try I'll be made fun of for the rest of the day by my friends so I just clear my mind and go in relaxed then at the start of the jump think of my trick get set and then I usually don't want to try the trick being scared so throw it really soft fall first attempt and get the falling out of the way then really start trying to get it down and eventually land it.

This is perfect. Great explanation of how I felt growing my first backflip this past season. I threw it as hard as I could the first time (and over rotated), but after that it felt like I've been throwing them all the time and I dialed it it for the second try.

It involves a lot of talking to my self and swearing for me. Gotta get yourself pump. But when I drop in, I am fully comitted.

I feel like shitting my pants until I drop in and I don't think about anything, just thinking about hucking it!

What's weird too is, that eating shit but not getting hurt makes me pumped to try over and over again until I get it.

No better feeling than being a bit beat up and then finally stomping it.

God I miss skiing...

I keep try to keep it in the back of my mind and try not to focus on it while I'm waiting to drop. I try not to think about until I'm about 25meters from the kicker, when I'm there it's decision time based on my confidence. I've found this to be the magic trick to not pulling the pussy move
