punk has hit a new low (punktorrents.com shutdown)

as some of you may know, the filesharing site punktorrents.com has shut down. Fat Wrechords is to blame! here is my letter i sent to them:

So, one of the moderators on punktorrents.com has said it was you guys that have shut punktorrents.com down. If this is the truth, you guys do a poor job of representing punk music. I understand about the banning of sharing advanced cd releases, but shutting down a whole community, that is just shitty. I found out about more bands that I like today from punktorrents.com then any other place ever. If I didn't know about these bands, I would not be able to support them. Tell me if that is not supporting punk music. so in conclusion, Fat Mike, you suck, and I will never consider you to be a true punk. What about the song Dinosaurs Will Die? When can I expect to see a music video of that song on MTV?

for all of you who down know, the song dinosaurs will die is a song speeking out against the mainstream music industry. I used to like nofx alot more but over time, i have grown to better more hard core bands, and this jsut tops it off.

Yeah it hurts nofx and fat, but whadya gonna do. I dont really care that much. it's like taping a record at a friends house. I'd like to think that a lot of our fans would buy the new cd to help support the band, but hey, if you don't got the dough who's gonna know.

'What kinda cars do you guys drive?

I drive a 99 ford econoline van and a 64 lincoln convertable on nice days. El Hefe has a Ford expedition and a cherry 47 chevy. Melvin has a Tahoe and a 65 mustang, and Smelly has a buncha motorcycles a go cart that can go 60 mph and a pick up truck. (My van is the coolest though cuz it's got a bar in it).

yeah if all about 'supporting the bands' quit being a cheap ass and buy their cd (at a mom and pop store, of course), get off of the computer/ass, go to shows, and actually talk (in real life) to other people about new bands and music. it's bitches like you that are hurting the industry, not fat mike.

who are you to tell them how to live? contrary to what dumbshits think, old cars dont have to cost so much. ive got a 1964 buick in pretty nice shape and all cash into it has cost less than 3 g's. so this money they are getting, they arent making it in any way thatis dishonest, they work for it. why do you get to pick what they spend it on?maybe one day you will have a job and work for what you have and learn something from it. sometimes when you have money, you buy things for yourself. you think they should start mailing the money out to their fans? and the whole punktorrent thing, its stealing music, plain and simple.

heres lesson in how shit works: people pay money to make music. you listen to it without paying. people making music lose/dont make money.

your lession is wrong. for most of the people i have talked to on punk torrents.com, this is how it works: they hear somthing that they downloaded that they like, that otherwise would ahve never heard of, and then go out and buy a cd of this new band they jsut found out about. humm, really sucks for the artist now, hu? point is, you have to admit, that NoFx is doing jsut fine in the music buisness, and they are hypocrytes for doign what they did, and then singing about the shit that they do, and claming to be punks. what they did, is not 'punk'. as much as i hate to say it that way...
