well you are going to get any factual shit watch anything on shark week, "factual and cool shit" kinda got tossed out the window when they started hiring goofy comedians like Andy Samberg and shit to host the show. honestly why not hire someone who actually knows about wildlife and is enthusiastic about it to host the show? i mean having someone like steve irwins wife or children to host the show would be amazing, they actually have some first hand experience and knowledge with the subject, unlike these clown comedians who host the show.

nah i actually look forward to it a lot. Every year they have new stuff, show a lot of shark stuff from where i vacation/swim (Cape Cod/ Marthas Vineyard) And last year they had that late night shark show where they brought celebrities on and read peoples tweets, etc.

Yeah. It's been a few year process, maybe 5, of slowly accepting and coming to terms with the fact that it's 75% recycled content, and every year. the new stuff gets less and less interesting on a shark/marine biology nerd level, and more and more sensationaized re-enactment bullshit, or straight up terrible, obviously suspect pseudo science. It blows.
I used to get so pumped, and as a beach kid who was fishing and gawking at sharks being weighed at the dock and checking the paper to see who was catching what where, it was my favorite little gimmicky programming week or whatever.
It's shit now, and because I'm a fucking idiot, I'll still watch a lot of it.

100%. It's such a miscalculation, and hopefully the backlash and negative feedback is trickling back in. Maybe in a few years it'll shift that way. It hasn't always been so heavily marketed and promoted, that's relatively new, maybe in the last 7-8 years. I don't remember it being on the pop culture radar all that much back then, so maybe if it drops back to the originally intended audience, it'll let go of the over the top bullshit.
I have been watching discovery ALL day today! Since I have been a yung gucci boi i have always loved the ocean and marine life (especially sharks!) I got my OWC (Open Water Certification) about a year and a half ago and my first few dives in Maui were CRAZY! I saw black tips, tiger sharks (THING WAS MASSIVE around 14 foot), and at a distance saw a hammerhead. I came within 50 foot of the black tip and tiger and I wasn't scared at all /claim Sharks have always been portrayed as these man eating beasts but in all reality they are calm and graceful creatures. Sharks are dope and I'm kinda saddened that all shark week has been about attacks and not about the science of sharks..its whatever I'm entertained either way!

As said in here already shark week fucking sucks. Its the same thing every year with 1 maybe 2 new shows a day, and even those new shows are just repeated topics. How anyone can enjoy it is beyond me
Shark week blows, started watching that show about the huge shark off the coast of south Africa last night, something about the wrath of submarine, until I realized it was just like the mermaid "documentary" they did last year and was completely, 100% fake. Like WTF, Discovery? Is there not enough cool, factual information about sharks you can air? You have to resort to making fake documentaries with paid actors and staged "recovered footage" of ship wrecks that never happened?
