I completely manage Newschoolers. Staffing decisions, budget, direction, etc are all under my control. I have people that I report to, goals to hit, budget to stick within, etc. I get freedom, but there is some sense of corporate direction that we need to work within.

They're really good about giving us latitude to work though, just like with Powder, Surfer, Snowboarder, Transworld Snowboarding, etc.

There is also a lot of resources that we use at the parent company. Stuff like legal, accounting, processing ad campaigns, HR - that is all done there and we tap into those resources.

So, when you guys revamp stuff (ie coding based) is that done by you guys or do you bring in engineers from the parent company?

Only one of us actually and that is Paul (NoPoles). We rarely get help from the parent company coders, but we're trying to work towards that. We really need more resources on the code front in a big, big way.

I have a fulltime job and help out NS in my free time, jamie is on a similar program as well.

There isnt enough work to do to really have a "full time job" just being the head of a program, but there is enough work that jason/doug can't add it on to their already huge list of things to do.

Correct. We'll occasionally during something big bring in a freelancer for a bit of help, but for the most part its one guy.

If you had the choice to go back and not sell NS and holding onto it till today, would you? Or do you think the site wouldn't be near what it is now had it not been bought by a large media conglomerate.
