MinggInjuries like compression fractures? I don't know how much protection a spine guard would be for that... Seems like they are more for direct impacts.
Sh4dowI've been considering getting one as well. Suggestions on which one to get?
NegromancerHow much do they actually support your back/spine? Like do they absorb some of the impact on the back from heavy landings?

tomPietrowski^its not compression fractures we are talking about its more about using it a bit like a kidney belt. When you take a huge impact everything wants to move around so if you have something surporting you it can really help. Give it. A try before you comment.

BoaxStrengthening your back will do a better job. And it's free.

SklarI have a slytech one, it's dope. Similar material to the poc vpd, WAY better than a hard shell one
Pipe_MunkyPersonally I have a POC Bug spine protector that I used to use a lot in skicross racing and still use every now again. So I have given one a try before commenting...that's why I did comment
OP was asking about a spine protector supporting your back and landing flat (as in the thread title) can often result in compression fractures...there was no mention of using it as a kidney belt.
RailersailerI got a nasty break this summer, tib fib+rod and four screws. What can I buy to protect it? Like some poc shit?
tomPietrowskiWhat kind of protection are you looking for? The most important thing for you will be excellent fittin boots. The cuff of the boot will act a bit like a cast an help support your leg but you will need good footbeds to ensure you are neutral and your leg flea matches the boot. Make sure you don't buy too big or too much volume over the instep as those to things can cause very bad shin pain.
RailersailerIntuition helps?
SklarWay more comfortable.
I would wear mine without the straps and just put an under armor shirt over it (pretty much like the poc vest wears) and I barely even noticed it. The hard shell is bulky and kind of annoying.
I think protection is pretty comparable
