STH2 vs ATTACK 13

I'm honestly just torn between these two bindings. I've heard from some people to go one binding and other people the other binding. To give you some info I'm 5'8 ish and 130 lbs ish. Anyway these bindings need to handle abuse for at least 2 years. Also I'm a advanced skiier. I will ski these bindings park and all mtn.

So I'm leaning towards tyrolias because of wieght. But I've heard binding weight doesn't really matter. Also which one is considered safer? I don't really want to tear my acl anytime soon.

Also I'm not sure what skis these will be on. Most likey batalla park reapers.

Both will be equally safe just like any alpine binding however te adjustment on the sth2 is a big selling point. The sth uses a true toe height adjustment rather then a sliding afd on te attack. A true toe height is better a you don't have to compromise add placement to get thecorrect height. The sth also has wing adjustment which really helps keep the boot locked in. Overall what that added adjustment means is you can secure te boot better in the binding meaning you could potentially ride a slightly lower din then the attack which in turn would mean they are a "safer binding".

Overall if money is no object go sth2 every time. But if you are on a budget t attack is grey for the money.

Alright so on how wieght goes. The attack is lighter. Will I notice this? The sth are just a pound heavier a pair but I really want as light as I can. But people say swing wieght I won't notice it. But it is extra weight. So when will I notice it?

The only time you will notice the extra weight is carrying the skis. The binding is so close to the centre of the ski that it really adds nothing to the swing weight. So don't worry about going light with bindings as it won't give much benefit.

Not sure if this has been fixed on the sth2 but every once and a while you will want to check the toes on the sth. On my older modle sth I have to make adjustments every 5 days or so. I put on a ton of force on my bindings when I ski compared to you being about 90lbs lighter then me.

Hoping someone can confirm this for me and op.

I think that is more just an issue you are having. The wings could come slightly lose over time with te old ones but the stack height should not be changing. It's set on a threaded screw so it would be hard for it to come lose and unadjust itself far. More often it's just boots wearing which make the toe feel loose but luckily this is easily remedied with the sth toe.

Alright thanks. So I have some skis with marker dukes. I can notice the wieght then. Is that just because those are pretty much the heaviest binding out there? Or is it the stack height?

Well what about the weight do you notice with the dukes? Is it that they feel heavy carrying them, or heavy to tour on. The duke is very heavy though so you will certainly notice an improvement with the sth.

Also they feel kinda heavy all around. Even on groomers my other skis feel much nicer.

I have another question. So I'm most likey getting batalla park reapers. 91 underfoot. And the sth2 has 71mm baseplate/screwset. They did that for bigger skis for better transition. Anyway will 71 be too big for 91? Would it be too close to the edges?

The bigger the better really. A wider baseplate mran better power transmission from boot to ski. Having a wider platform is something all bindings will transition to

yeah i understood the bigger the better but i didn't know if it could get too big and your screw set too close to the sides of the ski.

Well you said above it's about. A 2cm difference so that would leave at least 1cm either side which is plenty. They will fit fine on narrower skis then you are looking at so don't worry.
