Amplid Provoke 2014

Hello everyone

I've got a couple questions about these skis because there is a really good deal on them. I will be getting 175cm.
All the necessary information:
Height and weight: 170cm + 60Kg
Ability: Advanced park, expert all mountain.
Location: I will be using these skis for 95% park because I will be using them in a snowdome most of the time. Also because I ski a snowdome I hit a lot of rails and only a small jump. When I do go to the mountain I like to hit the biggest jumps though.

My first and main question is: how durable are these skis? How thick are their edges in mm? My current AR7's have really nice 2.5mm edges and they have lasted a very long time (a whole year of constant rail hits and only now have I got like one or two edge crack).
Secondly how much of a difference will the extra rocker in the tip and tail make compared to my fully cambered AR7's and what is the stiffness is comparison to the AR7's.
Finally I'm about 170cm will 175cm be to long?

Here's some answers to your questions straight from the horses mouth:

1) The edge dimensions are 2mm (width) x 2.5mm (depth) so they should have a similar durability to what you've experienced with the AR7s

2) The AR7 has a pretty similar flex to our ski the Antidogma. There is quite a difference between the Antidogma and the Provoke, because the early rise tips do make quite a difference. The Provoke is a much more buttery ski, that extra flex is right in the tips which makes the flex pattern less uniform than the Antidogma. That said, these skis behave much more like a cambered ski than a full rockered ski.

3) 5'6" ish... you'll be fine on the 175s but you can take the 167s if you think it's going to be a better fit. Longer skis are definitely more popular right now.

For hitting the domes, the Provoke is going to be perfect. Most of our team riders would choose to ride the Syntax or Antidogma on bigger jumps because they have a choice, but none of them have a problem riding the Provoke on them... it's capable.

Maybe you already know this, but re: what difference will rocker make: Rockered skis feel shorter. 175cm skis with rocker tip and tail will feel shorter than 175cm full camber skis. Therefore, if you're comfortable on a certain length of full camber ski, go a little longer when you get rockered skis.

Ok thank you very much for the detailed response, I really appreciate it a lot. I think I'm going to try the Provokes they seem like a fun ski and it might be a nice change from the traditional full camber ski I'm used to.

Thanks, I know rocker makes the ski feel shorter which is why I thought I should go for a slightly longer ski. I know 167cm will be to short as I currently ride 171cm AR7's.

Alright I bit the bullet and bought them along with a pair of Rossignol Axial2 120's, hopefully they arrive soon and I can give them a crack.

Bump for questions.

Just pm'd op asking about the true length of the skis. I'm currently riding 174 iron maidens (which I just measure out to be about 171/2)

I find my ironmaidens too heavy as I'm a skinny guy but I love them other than the weight. I want to venture into softer skis so I thought the provoke would be good. I'm just wondering about the lenght of them. Are they true to there size. I'm 180 tall and 60kgs weight.

PS. The demo bindings on my iron maidens probably add to the weight. Does anyone know how much iron maidens weigh?.

Just checked a pair in the office, the length is accurate. Regarding ski weight, the weight of the 175 is 1700grams per ski.

Amplid is so far my favorite skis i've ever rode, i wished i never got rid of my antidogma. i've been looking

at the provoke skis and those are the ones i'd like to get next, those or sum apo
