Monkeys

Assuming scientists are correct, and evolution is a real thing. Then in like millions of years, hypothetically will monkeys evolve into humans? What is that going to be like? Will they be just a different race of humans? Will planet of the apes become reality? Is that what happened to us? Why are they so far behind in the evolution stages? Should i keep asking quesitons? Who knows?

Once I was studying a monkey and I looked into his eyes and he screeched at em and pulled my hair and it was like a toddler so coming from an anthropologist, yes.

chimpanzees are likely at a point of stability in which there is not a selection pressure towards higher intelligence. Planet of the apes is probably a very unlikely future scenario

also chimps are part of a history as long as in homo sapiens, so its possible that the ancestor of modern chimps and modern humans was in between in intelligence, meaning humans specialized to become smarter and chimps specialized to save energy (a smaller brain uses less energy)

Partially correct, however most people forget about the evolution of the larynx and how that played a role in determining what counts as human and what isn't. Look at the Neanderthal's positioning and how low it sits, showing it couldn't have articulated but still produced sounds.

But that's another story. Basically chimps and humans have similar lines of evolution that are continuing today.

Singularity is some pretty fucking crazy shit. The fact that it is possible and not entirely unrealistic is just scary.

However, as long as humans are the dominant(?) species then monkey's will probably not take over or whatever. Humans would kill them all before they had that much power. Unless humans are extinct or something...then yes evolution may lead to that.

the larynx is made up of cartilage and ligaments and do not preserve in the archaeological record at all. i think you are thinking of the hyoid bone? it is a very delicate bone that does not preserve very well in the record either. i am pretty sure there has only been one decently preserved neanderthal hyoid discovered and fragments of a few others. which have shown they were quite similar to anatomically modern humans.
(not necessarily saying they were used the same way)

I agree singularity is essentially inevitable. And I really dont know where i was going with the original questions of this thread, I was just thinking off the top of my head and wondered what newschoolers thought about such a topic.
