There's so many social studies/history games out there that you could play, and you cant even think of one?


Jenga, Sorry, Clue, Chutes and Ladders, fuck it just have them all play their favorite game on their smart phones

These were my favorite highschool games...

We used to play Jep tho for small amounts of extra credit and classes playing against each other. That was the shit.

Play like the hunger games so you can easily find the alphas in your classroom. Once you find alphas either befriend the students or destroy them so that you can easily control your class.

Yo you can't just come on here and bust out with "I'm a teacher." These little bastards will tear you apart and eat your entrails with a smile on their face and fire in their eyes.
You've got to come down to their level, act like an assbag, earn their trust and respect as an immature moron. Then when they least expect it, you ask what games they like in class. I will warn you though, this takes about two years to accomplish.

Just be sure that you keep your wits about you, because it's easy to just stay at their level and be an immature little prick forever.

Case in point, this little asshole.

End of the world.

Kids sit in a circle. The world is ending. Only people can survive. Each kid writes a profession on a piece of paper. They then argue about why each of them deserves to live. It gets heated. But it's a blast.

Completely serious response. I'm an ed major and have done it with my classes. Kids get worked up though. Like seriously angry.

In hs physics we used to split into groups to answer questions, whatever group i was in would smoke everybody. Fun times.
Also in spanish we used to time everybody counting from 100 to 1000 (ciento, dos ciento etc) to see who could do it the quickest.
It was a private hs so teachers had alot more lee way to teach the class however they wanted. Some teachers were really fun, and just dicked around shooting the shit on interesting tangents for the whole class

With my students in my high school classes I borrow the idea of Harry Potter House Cup award and take away points from class periods.

The best thing you can do to make sure you kids are engaged is to teach with passion and make it relevant.

Oh and NS is probably one of the worst places to ask this question since it is made up post high school adolescent angst and will get posts similar to the one above mine.

Don't play 2 truths and a lie because there will always be that one poor, smelly, mexican kid who says that his dad is in jail, his mom hasn't been in the house in 8 days, and he swam with the dolphins at sea world. The happy option is always the lie and when everyone awkwardly looks around the classroom he quietly slumps his head into his hands and sobs. Meanwhile Bobby the douche makes a comment about how he got to help his dad pick up Mexicans at lowes, he went to New Zealand, and he owns a Porsche.

I did this with my high schoolers one time and had to break up a fist fight. I didn't send them to the principal though because I was laughing the whole time.

That's awesome. My seventh grade teacher did it when I was in school and I did it with my seventh graders when I was teaching. I'm glad high schoolers take it as serious as junior high kids.

We had a kid in my class start crying then walked like 9 miles home because two kids on his bus got to live and he didn't.
