Camera Help; Canon t1i or Canon t3

Hey guys i am getting into film and photography and want to upgrade from my gopro to a intro dslr. Both of these cameras are in my price range. I am looking to do about 80% filming and 20% photography (i know i should get the t2i but i just don't have the money right now). I have looked around and it seems that the canon t1i is a better camera for what i am doing, but i have no idea because the t1i is from 2009 while the t3 is from 2011. I just want to make the right decision. I could really use your guys's help!

Just sack up and get a t2i, you will be extremely glad you did. It is miles ahead of both of those cameras for a rather small premium.

Do not get the t1i, do not get the t3. At a minimum get a t2i.

What is your budget? There are usually great deals either here or on fredmiranda. It is pointless to buy something knowing you will upgrade when the price is so close. You will spend much more than simply getting the proper one the first time.

If you could only get one of the two which one would you get? I just want a camera that I can use filming some urban seshs and backyard stuff

you can easily get a t2i with a kit lens for about $300 used. dont get the t1i or the t3

Neither of them can shoot useable video, so you can't use either for "filming urban sesh's and backyard stuff".

To reiterate - Get a T2i if you're sure about shooting video on a DSLR. Get a regular HD camcorder if you don't care about still photography as much.

Even better price. might have a ding in the plastic exterior, but it's fully functional, which is what matters.

T1i, more filing formats (1080p at 20fps, 720p at 30fps and 480p at 30fps) and 15 pixels for photos vs the T3's one filming format (720p at 30fps) and 12 pixels. But like everyone else is saying, they both suck and you should probably get the T2i.
