Devastator reviews//vs kartel 98

i was thinking of getting a ski around 100, at the waist but im leaning towards something even more versetile. i at first thought the kartel 98 then after seeing Pete Arneson's self edit v2 (http://vimeo.com/101362850) noticed he was riding the devistators and i looked into them, saw that they had full rocker, and i loved the full rocker on my volkl bridges so i thought these would be a great option

Actually because their rocker is the exact same as the sidecut, the edge will contact the snow all the way up the ski when put on edge. Meaning the Devastators will actually grab the snow almost as well as a full camber ski, and why they are such a versatile ski.

most all mtn skis are like that, even the symetrical candide 2.0 doesnt have the same amount of rocker in the tip and tail

Materials used in construction would also be something to consider, as those lend a fair amount to the performance and are somewhat different.

i personally havent ridding the devys, but ive heard first hand that they rip grooms too because of the reflect tech design. ive never riddin a fully rockered ski in the park so i dont know how they will do in that aspect, but i have seen people use them in the park. i would say that this ski would be perfect for you, but idk about the park

I got to demo the Kartel 106 for a few runs this year and it is a fucking awesome ski. Beefy, damp, poppy, amazing through crud and floaty enough in soft. If I had the money for them I would buy them without hesitation.

I'm also totally biased towards 4FRNT due to being an employee, but I can say that 90 percent of my season last year was spent on devastators. I don't really need anything else. Park laps, pow laps, jumps, groomers, you name it. The ski has some pop due to the reflect tech, I never ever felt like this ski was dead. If you liked the Turbo before, its like that except for wayyy more playful with a pretty killer ability to charge.

both are good choices. devastator vs cartel 106 is a more accurate comparison. u would be happy with either.

Thought the devastators gripped just fine. +1 on all the comments saying they rip, the skis are aptly named. Its an all metal ski, would not be my first choice in the park, especially if I was going to session a rail all afternoon.

4FRNT is so creative with their shapes, I've never heard of a ski like that before. Sounds dope.

Volkl did the same thing, they just don't call it reflect tech. I'm not sure who came up with the idea first tho.
