tomPietrowskiYou should not really ever need to mess with your bindings. They come pre greened from the factory but you should not need to do any more. To be honest with bindings let a shop mount and set them up and then have them show you how to adjust the din so you can fine tune as needed.
_J.T.i plan on letting a shop mount them and stuff. im just wondering after years of use do they need greasing? and i actually know how to set din and forward pressure on the fks and most marker bindings.
tomPietrowskiNope they should be fine. You never want to be taking bindings apart anyway so there is no real way you could freeze the mechanics anyway.
As as for setting them up I would still get a shop to adjust the Fp. Fks are some of the worst for getting the fp correct and often the visual indicator does very little, so best to get someone who can test the bindings to set tem.
_J.T.alright, i still had planned letting my shop do it anyways. im just hope they can do it right, since they cant set the fp on my markers.
tomPietrowskiWell are they a Rossi authorized dealer? If they are not they should not be mountin the bindings. If they are the techs will have had to do the certs so will know how to do it. The issue with fks though is less and less people actually know how to set them right, so it may be worth trying a few shops.
_J.T.haha! i asked them a while back if they were certified rossi and got no response! ill go in an ask once ski season comes back around. thanks tom
shin-bangbump, my left heel piece was squeeking pretty good, sounds like i need some grease, anyone know what type of grease and how to do it? im guessing lithium grease?
BWalmerI've been on the same pair of FKS bindings for 4 seasons now and have yet to even think about greasing them. Don't fuck with them, they probably don't need grease, it's probably just squeaking because it's cold out. If you are REALLY worried about them, bring them to a shop to check them out, adding grease yourself could result in ruining your bindings and causing them to be unsafe.

rozboonWhich part was squeaking? The only real moving parts are the main pivot in the dildo, the ends of the arms and the turntable. None of these should move when you're skiing. If something's squeaking, I'd say it's your boots, then the snow, last place being your bindings. I was skiing a while back with a guy on some Look P18's that were so beat to shit I think most of the paint had come off, and they didn't squeak.
But to answer your question, white lithium grease. Good luck actually getting it inside anywhere meaningful though.
LiteratureTo actually answer your questions:
No, that thing isn't a zerk. It's a little pin that holds the plastic heel cover on the binding.
To take the heel apart, you'll have to get that pin backed out a bit, loosen the DIN screw, and it will pop off. Then you can access the inner portions.
I dig the greasing video, but the interface between the spring and the axle that the whole heel rotates on probably doesn't see benefit from pushing grease in from the sides.
A few years back, I got a pair of rebuilt FKS, used them for a few seasons, and felt like the heels were extra stiff, so I regreased them (completely taking them apart), and they felt more consistent and normal in their release. Haven't had that issue with the stock ones I got new.
.WashingtonSir you are now my idol. Yea I just kind of took note where they came pre greased from the factory, so in the hinges and the turn table so I just tried get grease back to where I originally had noted. Thank you for the information!
LiteratureTo be fair, I'm not a trained technician or official personage for bindings, but I've asked a lot of questions and often times find that some of the shops I've dealt with weren't on the same page in terms of what I wanted to get achieved.
So I've taken matters and the accompanying risk into my own hands. Know that you're doing that when you start messing with your own binders.
shin-banginstant revive, for summer storage.
after rereading all these negative comments, i do have to say greasing them has done nothing but help them be smooth and non sticky. all you joes saying it will ruin them, dont mess with them, you dont know know what youre doing, ect.... ive greased both pairs multiple times, first time being at the start of the season (have had absolutely zero problems with release values throughout the entire season), the last time being today for summer storage.
so tldr; if theyre sticky, and youre putting them up for summer...grab some lithium grease and get after it bois
peace :)
