Saying goodbye to your close friends

It never get's easier. It's one of the hardest things to come to terms with. Although park skiing can be brutal you just don't like to think about it. I had to lay down a friend yesterday. My new gear is nice and all but I miss my friend. Do you have an attachment to your skis even after they meet their end? To you try and piece them together and keep them going or just leave them to rot and buy a new pair with the first ding?

I think you sort of get emotionally attached to the skis especially because you progress together in early park skiing times

My Obsetheds are my best friends. I will love them forever, regardless of how damaged they get. I will never retire them even if I need duct tape to hold them together.

I think my lizzies are the only skis I really love and will never get rid of. One of the edges separated from the sidewall, had a chance to warranty for Bacons, didn't do it. Nothing can replace my lizzies. Still ski them often.

I hate it when they're new. You know they're the shit so you really want to use them, but you can't go hard cause they're new.

yup. sharp edges on rails can suck a dick. and any time that happens it's cause my old edgeless park skis finally bit it, so it's always going from one extreme to the other


but yeah i def have an attachment to my skis, sort of a bummer to retire them

I had a pair of old volkl walls. The very first volkl wall. They were my first twin tip. I learned 360s on them at age 11. Slid boxes and whatnot until age 13. I even threw my first flip on them. It was sad seeing those planks go.

you always remember those past fun times enjoyed on those skis. you try saving them until there is completely no more and then you hang em up or make them into a chair with your other past "memoirs" and then you get your new gear and you fuck shit up on them in memory of your old skis. then the cycle just goes on.

Whenever I get a new pair of skis, I give them a woman's name. Why you might ask? It makes it easier to love them, to care for them. But then when they are bad to me(break ect.) it makes it easier to just let them go like I would any other woman. I can get real attached to a pair of skis...

When I hold my new skis for the first time, and they're finally mounted, I give them a name. Naming them just makes parting harder though. I have a pair of ARW's I call Tanner, and I can't ski them anymore because they're cursed. (I swear they are- I've had nothing but brutal injuries on them.) Laying them to rest was so hard for me, but I knew my 4FRNTS were my new love.
