Avalanche Classesr, help me get into the BC!

They have Avi classes at The U. Or check out Mountain Ed (Salt Lake City). We do a few classes in the winter, cool dudes. Other than that, I would not recommend much else. The only way to get ahead is to just do the classes in the environment that you are training for.

Awesome thanks man, do you think I have to be a U student for the classes or would just a U Id work? Are you part of Mountain Ed? If so do you know how soon you'll offer classes?

If only there was a state resource where information regarding, advisories, education, detailed information like archives incident reports, maps, videos, tutorials and a plethora of other resources like weather links, gear lists/ reviews, glossaries of terms, and standard protocals of bc travel and maybe even bro blogs.

the u will offer courses under continuing ed winter semester

Haha I've been searching and calling up different courses but all of them have their workshops in the winter at least into late December, I was just wondering if anyone knew of or had taken any classes before the winter months because I wanted to get some preseason touring. Not trying to be stupid about the backcountry thanks for the recommendations.

yeah unfortunately there's really no better way to learn basic avalanche skills than actually getting out there, which means waiting until a mid-winter class.

but ya could and should be able to learn a little sumthin.

You'll have to take a course during winter when you can actually practice the stuff. If you want to get a head start, read Snow Sense.
