Snowshoes as a touring alternative?

So me and a couple of buddies plan to build some booters outside of resort boundaries next season. It won't be very far outside of the resort, maybe 1000 feet out of bounds tops. But I can't afford touring bindings and skins, so would snowshoes work as an alternative to those? +K to helpful responses.

Yes they should work. As long as you don't have to ski down to much with them. How steep is this terrain?

This. Snowshoes in skiboots would suck and your friends would hate how slow you are.

not a good idea at all. it won't be enjoyable and you're more than likely going to go through a lot of needless struggling.

find a set of used skins or something on sale and a set of BCA Trekkers. not the ideal tool but will definitely make your trek more manageable

that'd be fine but for 1000 ish feet (i imagine it'll be more than that but nothing too far) but it might not be worth it in that case, having to either have other boots with you or wearing ski boots in the snow shoes. i'd just boot pack if it's that short a distance

Instead of snowshoes i would boot pack and the money spent on snowshoes i would invest in a backcountry 101 if you dont already have any snow safety training. Even though you are right next to the boundry shit can still slide and it does happen. Brighton last year we had a slide 50 ft from the boundry line.

Skins or snowshoes aren't worth it for kicker laps, plus you'll have to jump with your bag every time. Just learn how to pick a good spot and how to set a good bootpack.

my snowboard buddy used them last year, but it wasn't bad for him at all cause he could use his snowboard boots with them

If I had to get Trekkers, I'd rather just spend a bit more and get guardians or another touring binding.

Boot pack. Snow shoes are not worth it in ski boots.

have you considered finding a place where you could just ski to your booter then after you are done ski back into bounds?

yeah snowbird last year had baldy break with a high avi right before fat went up
