Powder Filming Lens?

hey guys, i have a Canon 650d with the 18-55mm kit lens and I like to film powder/pillow lines/cliff drops etc. I was wondering if the kit lens would cut it, or if you guys had any other suggestions that would help me to get the best out of my ability. My budget is around $450, but I'm willing to go to $500 if necessary. Thanks very much.

buying used glass is the way to go. and there is no better range than the 70-200 for this application
