Started my own Wooden Sunglasses Brand - rawWood Shades Co.
So wooden sunglasses are rad. But I'm sure most people don't get to experience that because they're like $100+ easy. So we set out to create affordable, yet still high-quality wooden sunglasses.
All of our shades will sell for less than $40. All of our shades for sale right now are less than $30.
We're starting an indiegogo campaign so we can try to get enough funds to go into large-scale production so we can become self-sustaining. Our wooden sunglasses all have polarized high-quality lenses, two-way spring hinges, and definitely stand out from the crowd.
I'd love any feedback anyone has. We'd love to find a home in the ski scene, and we know the other guys' sunglasses just aren't realistically ever going to take off here at the $130 price point.
Check out our website and let me know what you guys think of that as well: rawWoodShades.com
We're just getting started so any constructive criticism or love would mean the world!
Long link, but I think you may be wholesale ordering them from here...
I kind of doubt it, because the one's that you linked to aren't the same, and also because OP has an option on his site to "design your own" for $150.00, where you can work with them to design your own pair from scratch.

that doesnt make sense... they look different + different colors and sizes. And they have the engravings and boxes all of which would be hard to add with still making reasonable profit...
Good luck with the business man! And I dig that they float. Two weeks ago I was high and jumped into the lake with my spy's on and they just disappeared. I've been hesitating to drop the cash on a new pair since
There must be some smart guy who started a wooden sunglasses factory in China that now makes all of them for all those wooden sunglasses brands out there. Not to hate but only in the Netherlands there must be at least 10 brands that sell wooden sunglasses. Its crazy! How many would there be in the world right now?
Good luck to you and your company, it takes some balls to start something up.
I love that they float. I would pay more and buy a pair if they had some quality glasses or even polaroid glasses.
Take a picture of a half naked girl wearing the sunglasses and put them on a t-shirt.
I had to get at least one smartass jab towards "Lucky"
Anyways, this looks like an incredibly sick product and I will 95% for sure buy one just gotta make sure I don't want to go with the typical Oakley radars again.
But good job with everything! The website looks great and they are very affordable! I hope everything works out for the best man
I am most likely going to be getting a pair of these to share my support. also I don't know if you have looked into the wood called Ekki I would love to have a pair of shades made out of that wood because, well its called iron wood for a reason. Also My favourite style of shades are the aviator/wrap around look so if you guys can do something like that with Ekki wood it would be super rad.
Pic for reference.
That's like the style I have right now and love it. Plus I actually have the red/orange reflective lenses. I know with wood the frame would be thicker but I think it could look good, the only thing I would be worried about is whether the wood grain would allow it to work(not be too brittle). it also might drive up production cost's past your target price point.
Aside from all that you have my full support on this project man. It will definitely happen for you. I hope you turn a good profit and haven't left yourselves with too low of a return. Also what are your plans for people that want to wholesale for you?
DGskiDouble post, but when do you suppose the beeches will be available?
Our Beechers model is currently on the back radar, due to demand for different styles. Hopefully we'll get these produced soon though, no promises there!
snobunnythe website doesn't allow you to buy any. what gives, OP?
We're accepting pre-orders now on our pre-order page, and we'll be shipping out in just about two weeks form today, if all goes well!

Appreciate the support, working on the model part now.

We do have a few different styles going to be released shortly, and one may even be an aviator style, although I can't say specifically right now :O
We're growing fast as a company, trying to keep up with demand has been crazy honestly.
As for wholesale, we haven't set up many options for this, but we are looking into many retail shops at the moment.
DIPED_IN_SAUCEAny updates on manufacturing/ shipping / availability?
Sorry for the delay! We're accepting limited pre-orders currently, on our website. Hoping to ship out in just about two weeks from today, like I said if all goes well. Feel free to shoot an email to nick@rawwoodshades.com if you have any direct questions as well!
I've been so busy with everything, completely missed out on this thread for a little, my bad. Thanks for the support again!

We ship overseas, just going to pay a tad more obviously! I rock the Cruisers a lot, since I have a slightly bigger head, they work out great.
CVRPVTMNCHRwill buy

Damn, editing the site today I must've left some. Thanks for the heads up
criminILLISTBump for possible new mirror lenses color?
VERY SOON. That's all I can say.
Actually I can say more, because I love NS. Within a week we'll be announcing some new styles. Probably going to see some additional colors/lenses in there.
So we've launched our new lineup. Check it out if you are interested in our products. We're still small, expanding as fast as we can, but need funds. Which is why we've taken to indiegogo again.
Long link, but I think you may be wholesale ordering them from here...
Someone had to say it and Im happy you did. I wasn't going to say anything but seeing how much OP has beat around the bush, avoided the question and then "justified" his decisions, ima speak my mind.
TheMortNot how we're doing it, sorry. I can promise our shades are a lot higher quality than those probably cheap mall-quality shades.
Oh really? You claim to have been heavily involved in the design process...
I'd like to see some proof of that... Concept art? Wood and material sourcing? Machining/tooling? Production speeds? Quality testing/assurance? Licensing? Did you bring together multiple manufactures products in order to have an assembly of your product? Have you visited "your" factory in China? Do you even have a gantt chart for any of this?
That kind of claim means you actually did a lot in driving the creation of this product, not just "pick and choose" or "I like this, don't like this, send me the new sample next week"
Im not trying to say you are definitely wrong, I'm just 99% sure what you really did was choose wood colors, lens colors, hinge and frame shape from a sweatshop.
Sno.I kind of doubt it, because the one's that you linked to aren't the same, and also because OP has an option on his site to "design your own" for $150.00, where you can work with them to design your own pair from scratch.
Ever order anything custom? I can order 100 custom shirts for $8/unit. If I want 1 custom it'll run me $20/unit. Not to mention they can just take apart and assemble their "custom" units from their existing models
HolySchimmelthat doesnt make sense... they look different + different colors and sizes. And they have the engravings and boxes all of which would be hard to add with still making reasonable profit...
Yea... case is suppper custom! hand made by lil' Xi Wang... no way could he engrave 400products/minute because of his awesome slave wage.
but the shades are totally different then that link!!!!
Ah yes.. because that ONE factory in china would only produce ONE style sunglass.
All I'm trying to say is fuck you OP for taking advantage of a site like indiegogo to fundraise the rebranding of cheap shit for profit. If you came up with something original I wouldn't give a fuck. Unfortunately you've done not a single thing that is innovative or puts your product above the others. And now you're just taking advantage of some of my friends on NS and that pisses me off.
If you're going to try and sell your product to a community via its forum, be smart with how you respond. If you were fully open and honest from the start I may have actually considered a pair.
Peace out kids. Know the difference between peddling cheap shit and starting a company.
Hoping he isnt and somehow went around the wholesale route and actually eorked on a design and found a company to produce them.
That said ive had my doubt s since the thread was made hence my first post. If it turns out op is just getting wholesale sun glasses and taxing them and doing funding campaigns to pay for it, well i would support a perma ban on that.
I didnt want to be a dick earlier but since shits already getting wierd at this point whatever. Interested in what op has to say.
I dont care what people do but if you go on about how epic and sustainable your company is and its wholesale AND youre using funding sites thats pretty weaksauce in my book. Also i dont like people that lie directly to you as if youre an idiot.
I mean theres still the chance that he isnt but it seems pretty likely he is.
I almost got into the sunglasses game 10 years ago after seeing the dudes in cities hussling the wholesales. Have followed it all for years. Not even against it, nothing that stores arent doing. Just don't claim to be special, ask for funding, and definitely dont lie about it.
Since this is ns i sincerely hope to be wrong and be a huge dick by posting this. I really do like to trust people, especially in this community.
