Giz some insight on where to study

So I'm looking at doing exchange for a semester next year and I want to do it somewhere I can ski. I thought I'd ask NS for where, out of the following, would provide the most fun place to go. Ease of access needs to be factored in too, as I won't have a car. I'm looking for a mountain that has a bit of everything in bounds.

I've narrowed it down to these across the usa:

Buffalo State College
California State University San Marcos
Colorado School of Mines
University of (Northern) Iowa (State)
Western Washington University

or the university of Oslo in Norway, but I think it will prove to be too many donjis to live there.

some input would be muuuch appreciated

norway is hella expensive, would not recommend unless your budget is considerably higher than the average student or you can get a hefty student loan or whatever

Don't go to Cal State San Marcos. I don't think its that close to skiing and really is just a commuter school.
Both friends I had who went there freshman year transferred the next year.

Without a car, mtn access can be pretty difficult. What else would you factor into you going there? Where would you benefit the most form this experience?

Well you wouldn't be doing much of any good skiing in Iowa. But remember, education should come first, then skiing.

Yeah the cost of living there will probably be too high, plus the university projects a semester to cost about 50000 NOK which is a bit silly...

Ah righto, that's kind of lame. Did they find it to just be a waste of time?

Uhh weeell nothing really...except general cost. (Cost of education doesn't matter as its exchange, so just cost of living..)

Because it's just for one semester I'm not too worried about the uni's reputation.

I'm currently doing mech eng and will be trying to do two core courses and my only two electives while I'm abroad.

Just speaking off location, I would say look at Colorado School of Mines.

Yeah man go to school of mines, its a quality school, in colorado, and has a bunch of chill people (at least the skiers there are).

at WWU you can get most anywhere without a car--but the mountain is an hour away-- I think there is a bus that could take you up there, but still worth considering.

MSU Bozeman you can get anywhere in town by foot or bike. Bridger is only a short 15 or so minute drive and usually you can hitch or line up rides with others going-- make some friends and bum rides.

I don't think MSU was on your list, but maybe it should be?

Yeah CSMs lookin pretty prime. I'm guessing the culture around getting to the mountain is pretty chill, considering all the mountains are a fair drive from the populated parts of the city. Easy to hitchhike? And I'm hoping there's a system for students to get to the hill easily.

MSU isn't an exchange partner so it's out of the equation, which is a massive shutdown :(
