Canon 60d Vs. Canon 650d for filming ski movies.

Nope, just what people have suggested for me. Some people have also suggested D5200 as well. not too sure about nikons though.

60 d is weather sealed and is slightly better when it comes to image quality and battery life (from what I've heard and read). They're pretty similar but I guess weather sealed is a plus when it comes to skiing, especially if you're thinking about filming pow.

t4i does have new options that the 60 d doesn't have tho (video autofocus, etc.)

Don't get a Nikon or a Canon. Get a Panasonic GH2 or GH3. The Nikon will have better image quality than a Canon but is a bitch to use, and neither are ideal if you're only looking to shoot video.

Thanks! I could get a rain cover for the 650d anyways. But then again, this edit filmed with a 60d is amazing. Would I be able to do something like this with a 650d?

If you think getting an expensive camera is going to make you produce good edits then you're going to be pretty disappointed in your camera. They are merely tools designed to make the job easier and minimize limitations. 99% of the work comes directly from the operator.

Wow really? Thanks for enlightening me! Let me rephrase: Would the 650d minimize limitations and make my job easier enough to attempt to produce a film similar to the one I previously showed?

The end result will look no different between these two cameras. The 60D will ultimately have better battery life, and comes in a better constructed body. the 650D (T4i) is for all intensive purposes the same exact thing as the 600D (T3i), and for the most part (minus the flip screen and a processor update) the same as the 550D (t2i). All of these cameras have the same 18 megapixel 1.62x crop sensor that they share along with the 7D, 700D (T5i), 1200D, and 100D. Pretty sure the Canon M and M2 mirrorless cameras use it as well.

In short, the differences in end-result between these cameras is so minuscule that you won't be able to tell the difference. Get the 650D if you want a smaller package with slightly worse battery life, and get the 60D if you want slightly better battery life in a larger, better constructed body.

Get the 600D if you want to get basically the same shit for a little cheaper. Get the 550D if you really want to go cheap, and still, again, give yourself the opportunity for the same outcome, without one key feature being the flip screen.



(hint - I replaced my 60D with the 550D when I used Canon and actually liked it a little better. I picked up a 2nd body later on in the 600D before switching systems soon after)

The point is that you could film an edit like that on a cell phone. So yes

It really, really, really, REALLY, REALLY doesn't matter. Both camera's are 98% the same. Go with either. It doesn't matter.

Learn how to setup ISO/exposure, learn how to color correct, practice and try to get the most out of your camera. Here's an edit I filmed with a T3i, and I know I'm not getting the most out of it yet:
