FunkadelicNo Hamas killed those people by putting/launching their missiles in highly urbanized areas. If they would keep their artillery in the lesser-inhabited southern region of the Gaza Strip civilian casualties would be minimized.

1) They're in civilian zones because it's a ramshackle civilian army. Hamas doesn't have all the fancy tech and options available to them that the IDF do. I do not support the use of violence ever, but the reality is that the vast majority of the violence has been against Palestinians by Israeli forces.

2) Israel, being the party with almost all of the military power and the strongest tools of non-aggressive self defense in this conflict, bears most of the moral burden for failing to end the cycle of violence. The basic and universal applicable moral principle accepted (at least in word if not deed) by nearly every culture that's ever existed is that you should apply to yourself the same if not stricter standards than you apply to others. If you want to stop terrorism, the first thing you need to do is stop being terrorists The failure to live up to this standard is the definition of "hypocrisy".

3) It is only natural to expect violent response from any people anywhere when subjected to the living conditions (even ignoring the direct violence which sometimes disallows even the condition of being alive) of the Palestinians under Israeli occupation. Responding to acts of terror by individuals which have also been victimized by terrorist acts by indiscriminately murdering civilians (which even in 2014 is essentially what war is), especially in these proportions can only have one of two predicted effects: further retaliation by Hamas or the total annihilation of the people of Palestine. I don't think it's unfair now to say that the latter appears to be a goal of right wing parties in Israel, even though much of the population of Israel (and the rest of the world) wants peace, de-escalation and ultimately a multi-state (personally I advocate no states anywhere but we can talk anarchism later) solution.

4) Hamas literally did not kill those people. Israeli "defense" forces did. People (excuse me, little kids) are getting murdered as we argue about this on the internet, let's at least do them the honor of using honest and clear rhetoric.

5) Fuck Just war theory. Fuck it really, really hard. We will never, ever know peace until we find a way to stop advocating for war, and "we" starts with you, right fucking now.

Agree with me or not, but fucking appreciate what's on the line and think really hard before you ever support military actions anywhere by or on any people ever. And for fuck's sake, ask where the fucking oil is buried and watch who gets it when the dust settles.
