Israel begins ground invasion of Gaza

IDF starts Gaza ground invasion By YAAKOV LAPPIN

IDF ground forces began to move into the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening, the prime minister's office confirmed.

The purpose of the operation was to destroy the Gazan terror tunnels leading to Israel, according to a statement released by the prime minister's office.

Prior to the commencement of the ground invasion, the IDF launched a massive wave of combined air and artillery strikes on Thursday night.

The IDF said that the operation will involve infantry, engineering corps, and tank units combined with air force and naval support and intelligence.

Palestinian sources said strikes occurred up and down the Strip, adding that one strike targeted a motorcycle apparently carrying members of a rocket launching cell on their way to an attack on Israel.

At around 10:00 p.m. rocket sirens sounded in the Tel Aviv area, and in the Shfela. Iron Dome made a number of interceptions in the Tel Aviv area.

Hamas bombarded Israel on Thursday with rockets after the end of the humanitarian truce, firing over 100 projectiles after 3 p.m. Eighty one rockets landed in open areas, two fell inside villages, damaging two homes, and 20 were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system.

Also on Thursday, a drone from Gaza was detected in Israeli airspace, over the Ashkelon area. The IAF fired a patriot surface-to-air missile at the aircraft, shooting it down. It was the second Hamas drone to be shot down in recent days.

The IDF on Thursday warned citizens of Gaza to evacuate their homes and make their way from less populated areas to the Strip's major cities.

Close to 100,000 leaflets containing the message were dropped over the territory and hundreds of thousands of citizens from all over Gaza received recorded phone messages warning them to vacate villages.

Air raid sirens sounded throughout southern and central areas during the day. Ashkelon and Ashdod were targeted by Hamas repeatedly in the evening, and were successfully defended by Iron Dome.

Iron Dome intercepted two rockets over central Israel and the Sharon district in the evening, and one over the city of Ashdod. Several rockets landed in open areas.

The Gaza-border region of Eshkol came under continuous rocket barrages. Some ten rockets in open areas, and one damaged a home.

Between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Hamas fired 40 rockets at Israel, and Iron Dome shot three down Two rockets were fired at Beersheba, with one falling in an open area and a second intercepted over the Negev city.

Within a minute of the ceasefire ending, rockets were fired from Gaza at the Ashkelon industrial area and Hof Ashkelon region. Most fell in open areas.

The humanitarian ceasefire was violated when Hamas fired 3 projectiles at the Eshkol region. The rockets exploded in open areas.

On Thursday morning, one rocket was intercepted over the greater Tel Aviv and Sharon district, and one rocket fell in an open area. In Beersheba, Iron Dome intercepted an incoming Gazan rocket.

The point I am trying to make here which is as relevant as it gets, is that the academia / conditioned entertainment individual mentality today and for the last decade is so detached from reality they talk and write as if debating the rules and reasoning of the war topic as if a cribbage game. They mention death and slaughter (potential or actual) as if a review of a new TV series.

Safety through conditioned illusion of the reality of a situation will not cut it any more. Ever dream you could fly, or walk through walls, or walk down the highway into oncoming traffic where the cars would not hit you?
Well, dreaming is safe. Illusion is safe. Hard core "reality" can have lethal and unintended consequences for those that allow themselves to be entertained.

Arrogance for a show of deadly force at the cost of much blood and lives cannot be allowed or tolerated. This is not entertainment folks, it is the choice between life and death.

The circumstances for any war or lethal military attack should be determined by: THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE QUESTION:

If you, your family, and all of your friends were sitting at ground zero, do the circumstances created by others in that location warrant a lethal strike on ground zero?


If the answer is yes TO THAT QUESTION, than bombs away. If no, then stand down and resolve, or assist to resolving if you choose. Resolving the circumstances that moved the question to be asked in the first place.
War is the bully coward’s way of confrontation without the use of effective true intelligence and brilliance applied for mutually beneficial coexistence. War also puts much easy money in the pockets of what can be called noting other than true, well placed human scum.

The choice is all of ours folks of Life or Death. Choose wisely and back your choice up with true applied force to influence what end result flourishes.

TO END ALL WARS, it is actually much easier to do so than you may think. But then being captured in masterful entertainment for evil profit saturating us all is the first detriment to an easy resolution of the matter.

Those that choose death should in true justice reap what they sow and Ditto for those that choose life.

No surprise there, since most of the people on NS are from the States and the States has some weird fetish for Israel.

If you look at it from an unbiased opinion it's really really difficult to think Israelis are the good guys in this conflict, despite the terrible things the Palistinians have done.

i get that israel is a huge ally to the US but i truly feel both sides are at fault over this conflict.

Both sides are definitely at fault, but to take the side of Israel is lunacy.

Let's say you live in a rural community in US. Tomorrow the government comes to your town and says half the town needs to leave, since the land now belongs to the first nations who were there hundreds of years ago. So they move in and take over half the town, your house and land is now theirs and you're forced to live at a friends farm. The next year they burn all the crops at the farm you're living at and force you out at gunpoint. You throw a stone back so they kill your friend. You go to live with 4 other families crowded into a single house. The whole street is the same situation. The following year they pull up with a bulldozer and flatten half the houses on your street including the one you're living in, killing some people in the process. You complain to the government that they're going beyond the original agreements but the government decides to arm them with tanks rather than tell them to stop. Someone from the house you were in throws another stone, so they kill him and his wife and his children. This goes on and on for 60 years.

This is pretty much what's happened. How people support Israel and blame the Palistinians is beyond me.

some stuff to keep in mind when you hear about the Palestinian CIVCAS: Israel warns areas before they drop munitions on them. The only reason there are CIVCAS issues is that Hamas goes and moves civilians into areas the Israel has said they will target.

Hamas sets up a cache or commo center in some building that already offers some level of civilian shielding (housing etc), then when Israel gets intel on the location and gives the per-engagement warning, Hamas moves all the former residents back in.

So yea, Israel just needs to get boots on the ground.


Also if it was just Israel negotiating with Palestinians, there would likely be a Palestinian state by now. The big issue is that the Saudis and Iranians are against the existence of a Philistine state. All the Saudis and Iranians want to do is use philistines to bleed Israel. They don't give a shit about the Palestinians.

Israelis don't want to kill all the Palestinians. A lot of Palestinians want to kill all the Israelis.

What has Hamas done to mitigate Israeli CIVCAS? Nothing.

Honestly from reading the beginning of this I thought you were talking about the early American settlers and the Native Americans. Because that sounds just like what happened there. But nobody cares about that.. they just feel bad for Palestine.

Also, there are many different information sources out there, some that say the Jews purchased the land from the Arabs, not stolen. It was rightfully purchased by Jews from Arabs who were willing to sell to the price that Jews were willing to pay. It wasn't until the state of Israel was created that the Arabs were up in arms about Jews owning the land. The Arabs were also willing to sell the land because most of it was of very poor quality. Shit resources, the Arabs didn't see any value in it.

A lot of the conflict also stems from the Arabs refusal to acknowledge the state of Israel. It is practically against their religion to recognize Israel as an independent state. This causes problems because they don't believe that the Jews should have a recognized state and refuse anything from them. When they were given Gaza, the Jews left their jobs, their farms, their families, and their homes to give the Arabs land. Very good land at that, a lot of solid businesses, farms, etc. were just left for the Arabs. You know what they did? Destroyed it all and put rockets in schools, family homes, and other civilian areas.

So what you described above, is not far off of what the Arabs did. Destroying everything they were given because they refused to recognize the state of Israel.




Looking at the current situation. I don't see how people can be mad at Israel for defending themselves. The death toll is 15 for Israel and hundreds for Gaza, yes. But that is because Israel has better defense. That's like saying a guy with an AK47 unloads a 30 round clip at you, misses ever shot or hits your bullet proof vest. Now he is reloading and you have a gun, yet you don't shoot back because he's got bad aim.

Israel accepted the cease fire, is willing to give up land again to the Arabs. All they have to do is accept Israel as a state and live among each other. But they are unwilling to do that, so they will never have peace till one is gone. To me, I don't see how you can support the Arabs who are unwilling to be rational, care about their people, and only worry about ending Israel and the Jews that inhabit it. That is beyond me.

I'm not running out of anything this is an extremely complicated situation I need to have a lot of knowledge on what's going on. its not a shot rockets first so we shot rockets back, it's not that black and white. you want to have a real conversation we can have it, but saying Israel is doing all of this to protect itself and are the good guys. I'm not going to waste my time educating you.

What you said was more or less, incorrect, and relatively irrelevant to whether or not Israel is to blame for the current escalation between one UN mandated country and a set of people no one in the region (to include their 'allies') wants to see as a country.

Yes, everything Israel is doing is to protect their country. The United States is blessed with two giant oceans as our left and right limits, boarded to our north and south by two established countries we have been allies with several generations. Israel was immediately invaded by its neighbors. It shares boarders within small arms range of its cities with Iranian and Saudi proxies. It has, for the most part, not gone a single day of existence without being at war with an enemy that seeks to kill everyone of its citizens. This was after the UN plopped all the Israeli's there and said "Here's your new country, have fun." So yeah, they don't fuck around when someone decides to shoot rockets at them.

Are there going to be CIVCAS in any war, especially one almost entirely fought in population centers? Fuck yeah there will be. Only an idealist idiot would even try and pretend otherwise. War fucking sucks.

No, this situation is not black and white. No war is black and white until it is written into the history books by the victors.

It is possible to respect Israel's desire and fundamental right to use violance to defend her citizens and land, while at the same time understanding the pain of a family who had their house bulldozed to build a wall. It is possible to sympathize with the plight of Gaza without supporting Hamas.

At the end of the day though, I'm pretty pro Israel on this one.

I agree with you. Israel had rockets fired at them, and it's defending itself. But where did all this hatred come from? from generations and generations of religious people hating eachothers existence, and not being able to get along. It is true the Jewish people have been prosecuted for hundreds if not thousands of years. I'm not disagreeing with what they are doing right now. but because both of these "sides" cannot get along with each other that doesn't make Israel the hero, or the villan. That was the point I was trying to make on the first page.

Do you think after World War II when we said. The Holocaust was bad MMMMK, maybe we should get thim a place to live. Israel could have sat down with the rest of the world backing them, and made some sort of treaty with there not so friendly neighbors, and the UN enforcing extremely strict punishment if they were attacked, and punished both sides for going to war so they could have stopped it before it happened. Do you think After some time of being forced to live together, and Israel not pushing its borders out. The future generations would have possibly gotten along by now and realized at the end of the day they're all people and should get along with each other to help advance and suport themselves. or if they're all just irrational religious nut cases and we be in the same place we are today?

All that aside - no, I don't think your proposal would have had any real different effect asides from some dead Belgians, or whomever else the UN would sucker into that quagmire, and a quicker movement to exported Islamic terrorism in the west.

Everyone wants to talk about how it is Israel who is against the existence of a Palestinian state. The bigger issue is all the other countries in the area who don't want a Philistine state; that would be all of them.
The Jordanians don't want it, the Egyptians don't want it, the Saudis don't want it, the Iraqi's don't want it, the Syrian's don't want it, the Lebanese don't want it, and Iran does not want it. They hate the Israelis, they just don't respect the Palestinians; never have, never will.
All the Palestinian people are to them, is a bunch of warm bodies they can use up trying to kill Israelis.

The blue helmets and berets are completely ineffective everywhere else in the world. I see no reason why they would be anything different in Gaza or the West Bank.

there are 196ish (depends on who you ask) countries in the world that's 6 of them and the Israel/Palestine conflict has been going on forever. If you wanna talk about real violence going on look into South America.

Even in ww2, the axis powers were a couple countries taking on the entire world, and they almost won.

why did you post the same link 3 times? Those pictures aren't too bad. I actually have a friend who was in Israel who just got into Greece today, she was in a bomb shelter (I have no idea for how) and sent me a picture of a tree that exploded a mile from where she was. I don't really see the point you're trying to make they're much more worse violent disturbing things going on in the world right now. look at the some of the drug cartel chainsaw/firing squad executions those are always fun to watch. True to an extent, but it is not an uncommon thing for the lesser side to win. I could give tons of examples.

Also what do you mean by iq? Do you actually know the iq's of the civilizations, or are you just going off better technology?

I'm going to teach you this now and rip this bandaid off fast. Life is unfair, children get kidnapped and sold into sex slavery, people get murdered for walking down the wrong street at the wrong time. Children in Afghanistan were killed by American troops. People die all the time, and life isn't fair, you posting a bunch of pictures of dead people covered in blood isn't going to change that.

Israel may be the heavweight in this fight, and I understand how the land grabbing of Israel has bred a generation of palestinians who despise Israel.
