Sir_SkrillALoti think this is great but i think there is a huge disconnect between being an american and ski buming and being from basically anywhere else (thats worthwhile) in the world and ski bumming and having socialized healthcare. i hurt my knee this winter right when i was about to start ski bumming and if i wasnt still under my parents healthcare it would have bankrupted me for many many years.

skiing is a sport that you are incredibly likely to get injured and it is something to consider when you factor in the costs of taking a year or few off to ski. i know it's possible to ski bum in the US as evidenced by the amount of people up in summit but it is a bit naive to do it past a certain age with how fucked US healthcare system is.

StaticPensions done really exist anymore, and social security is compulsory. Hell in another 40 years we might have a basic income for all. What happens when you wait to retire and you're too old to do anything fun?

Staticno they don't not in the US, maybe in beaverland, but down here only some government jobs and some union jobs. Dead in another 40? then why worry about retirement? You threw out a pretty weak reason to not live a life of skiing: "But what about retirement" Whatever you gotta tell yourself.
