BeardlessMMThey have the money, and snowboarding boots they have made have been amazing. With the people Nike sponsors in skiing they NEED to start making some boots. Even if they sucked, people who don't know any better would buy them for the check on the side.

If they tried to make a boot an it was not up to the standard of atomic or salomon it would cheapen the brand, not something nike wants to do. For nike it's safer to stick with what they know and expand that range, then to try something hugely expensive and untested.
BeardlessMMTest that shit, make that shit, sell that shit. They have more money than they know what to do with. Find out the technology do some research, add a new nike feature to it. Have Jossi Wells, Gus Kenworthy, Dale Talkington, Kevin Rolland, ANY or ALL of them test it. You won't get any better feedback than from those guys.
tomPietrowskiBut it's not that simple sadly or brands like armada, line ect would have already been making boots. The research time that goes into a boot is usually a few years. So your paying people to research a product which may never make it to production. Next if the boot is working you need the moulds. This will cost prob close to a million for a size run of one boot. Now you have a boot who is going to sell it? Some board shops may also do skis so may take the product but how do Nike convince shops to stock an untested product from a brand better known for trainers. Lastly so far they just have one boot so unless they can develop some crazy custom shell which is unluckily for a first attemp then it's only going to fit a small percentage of customers. So sales won't be big and they won't recoup the losses so nike will be running the program at a loss. How long could they do that for, well it's nike they prob could take the hit for 5-6 years as the product developed to the point it was starting to make ok sales. But it's unluckily they will ever take on the big brands who can dedicate far more time and money to developing products. So overall they will be running at a loss and prob won't be able to take on the top brands ever so it's just not worth it for Them.
but who knows mate one day te CEO will be a big skier and he will want to take the risk.

617freeskierYou really don't understand the ski boot industry lol. as it was already explained to you, you can just wake up one day, decide to make ski boots, and start selling them. It doesn't matter if you have all the money in the world. Making a successful ski boot is not something nike will EVER do.

The other thread your thinking of was a trol thread with photo shopped Lange boots and a shopped snowboard boot.
