Really interesting. The new bacon looks like it could be real fun. Honestly though, from a purely graphical standpoint I'm a little sad, I feel like I'm a huge fan of like 65% of Pollard's art but these just don't do it as much for me (not that that really matters at all) And it's hard to beat those bentchetler graphics, I would put those on my wall if I could afford it.

I really like the Mordecai and Magnum Opus, but I think the SFB is not up to the same level as previous graphics (which have always been some of the best every year).
With the dimensions of the new SFB, I wonder if Pollard is planning on venturing back in to the park at all?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, would be a super fun park/all mountain jib ski maybe? I dunno, Magnum is my favorite, followed by bacon, I'm just not sure abut the blocks of black, I feel like that's kind of a common theme in some of his stuff, weird blocky bits I don't like. (Kind of weird to be critiquing a graphic this much... but I really like his art, and I'm a photographer, which means I care how bases look in my shots)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that any change in dimensions has much more to do with increasing retail numbers than whatever the fuck Eric Pollard decides to do with whatever skis he decides to have Line make for him. There is a long history of EP skiing skis that are 2+ years away from showing up in a catalog, if at all.

Oh I absolutely agree with you, but I'd still like to see a few park laps from EP. Actually I don't even care what he does. I'm more than happy to watch whatever he does.
MartianMannew SFB seems like it overlaps with the Blend quite a bit. Only 4mm wider, with cloud core, both crazy soft. Will we see a new Blend emerging?
Where are you getting this!?! Did I miss something?!

The SFB has had a reputation for being a 1 ski quiver, they are probabaly trying to make it even more appealing to people in that category to make it a bit more versatile in hard snow.
As for the blend I doubt it will see massive changes anytime soon, like half of lines team is riding it
steezy_dogepretty sure this is fake but i heard a rumor from i dont know were that look was making a binding like the pivot but for pow and deep snow skiing
Wow this should be a huge break through in ski technology. I have never heard of a pow binding! Lol
cobra_commanderbullshit. maybe maybe as stiff as a hawkx 80. Sure is light and walks great though
We have a really sweet robot that flexes boots forward and measures the newton meter force it takes to reach a set distance. When we plot out the flex pattern of our boots, the Hawx 2.0 110 and Backland Carbon with the stiff tongue option (how it will be delivered) are within a few NMs of each other, which is very very close. No marketing BS, just actual measured data.
Part of the problem with flexing boots on the floor is the rocker in the sole. As soon as you flex forward in a rockered sole, you pitch forward and the boot feels softer because you are moving more, and this feel is sometimes falsely attributed to the boot being soft. This doesn't happen in an alpine boot since the sole is flat. Once you have the boot locked into a binding it will feel stiffer for sure.
Idk a lot about skis or the industry but it might just be a case of Pollard not being done the graphic yet. So they just threw on this years, but will change it when they actually release them.

I hope it's the final version, it's one of my favorites.
Also I like how they're bringing back the crows on the bacon, reminds me of the old chronics
Anyone have updated specs on these? Tail, underfoot, and nose remain the same so if there's no redesign I'll prob end up snagging this years model instead of next year's simply due to price....if the ski has changed than that's a different story.

Unlikely. Line is probably just doing a multi season run of the exact same ski; if they didn't get rid of all the product from last season then a ski doesn't have to compete with a newer version of itself. There's also no need to retool to build a different ski.Rossi has done this for a few seasons with the scratch and other manufacturers have to.

Didn't realize that was a thing but it makes perfect sense.

Just picked up the 15/16 Tecnica Mach1 120 from my local shop the other day. Belief is the structure of the boot and liner is the same, although the company may have restructured the sole. Digging the updated color combo. Couldn't be more excited about the fit and feel of this boot and cannot wait to get them on snow this weekend.
I'm seriously astonished that the offerings from the two sister companies are so different in nearly every way. Can you discuss what technology was shared?

Atomic and Salomon have completely separate boot R&D/product management/marketing departments- we are in Austria, they are in France. We really don't know what they are working on (and vice versa) until far into the development process. The offerings are so different simply because we don't work together on any boot projects.
Bindings on the other hand are a 50/50 collaboration between both companies' R&D and product management teams and are always known to each company.
and because parent company didn't want her two kiddies going after too much of the same market. so Amer tells atomic to go after the 'endurance' and 'adventure' crowd, and salomon to go after the 'freeride' crowd.
what ONK mentioned is why the walk modes, concept design, and plastics used are so completely different. Which they are.

Not even that was communicated. Both brands literally did their own thing and it was more luck that it turned out the way it did. If anything the influence came from each country's main role in touring. In Austria, it is way more "endurance" oriented and in France it is more "freeride" oriented.

Yeah, but it seems kind of silly to make two skis that are so similar.
Blend:
100mm waist
Soft Flex
Twin Early Rise
Sir Francis Bacon:
104mm waist
Soft Flex
Twin Early Rise

So Salomon comes with the same tech binding we have seen in the Backland video but with blue colors? Interesting thing that they made a more freeride orientated boot for a basic tech touring binding.. Or does the Salomon boot also fits in the Guardian/Tracker? (The Atomic Backland doesnt..)
