gapersarefriendshow tall is karl if he skis a 181 jeffrey?
Because he was bringing the 193cm Cease & Desist, he sized down a bit on the Jeffrey 122 for a smaller, lighter ski for touring. I would say normally, he would be ideally sized for the 186cm.
I think Karl is around 5'11" or so. I'll texted him to get his height, so I will edit if I am wrong there.
But at his size, he is really ideal with a 181cm park/all mountain ski, and 186cm pow ski.
For what it is worth, too, this past season he was on a 191cm Jeffrey 122 on most big days and handled it with no problem. That just is a pretty big, heavy ski to throw around a lot.
h.robargeThey didn't mount them differently, one ski has the gold circle emblem, and the other has "atomic" spelled out. Just different individuals of a pair.

Graphically, next year's line is a bit of a departure from what we've done in the past. Normally our graphics are really heavy in elements and layers. Next year it is really color & texture oriented. I am super stoked on how they came out (for what it is worth, the graphics above are not the final versions of either graphic, so expect the finals to look a bit different and more dialed).
It looks like it might have the same function of the old toe just with new outer construction? Hopefully the dimensions and mount holes are the same. I guess that's a cool change for the binding because the current toe definitely has it's durability issues. But seriously, could they please take a look at changing the brake and baseplate design?
The new toe is pretty interesting I think. Essentially they have added the option of using wtr soles with the fks. It's done by moving the afd up and down not the toe so the ramp angle is kept consistent. To be honest it's not really an upgrade for ns it's aimed at opening up wtr soles to rentel boots with the aim of making rental gear better in the years to come. Pretty interesting I think.
HC.OGGolly gosh powder skis are looking uglier, gayer and more retarded by the year (and to a large degree, people are too, unfortunately.) Someone has to buck the trend even if it means alienating large swathes of people. The age of meat-hammering is upon us all.
Well it's a damn good thing you're offering a good looking, well designed product that is just so much less ugly and 'phallic' looking than all the other powder skis.

This is some of the best stuff in this thread so far. Dynafits new free ride line looks very inticing. Slack country touring is a great market for them to break into, just the price tag might be a concern for the demographic that they are shooting for. Seems like it would appeal to either people new to touring or backcountry enthusiasts who want to support Dynafit with a ski for in and outta bounds.

Break into?? They've had freeride touring boots for YEARS. Before the Khion they had the Vulcan/Mercury and before that was the Titan and before that was the ZZeus. This is just the next evolution, not a new thing they are doing.

I was referring to the new skis in the line. I am well aware of the success of the Vulcan and Mercury ;). Guess I should have made that more clear. This new line of skis is the farthest to free ride they have gone so far. Looks very inticing.

since when has anyone said the biggest issue with rental boots is that the soles are too hard to walk in? I'm all for making it easier for people to get into skiing, but isn't this really just the adoption of a "standard" to push sales for one company that has been bed with another for the past few seasons?
side note, I know reps love getting rental contracts because its easy money, but has anyone ever considered branding their rental equipment under a different name? Its not unheard of for a customer to be turned off by a specific brand because they've seen too many on the hill or they associate that brand with cheap rentals.

It would be stupid for a company who makes rentals to brand them differently. Look at the top tier brands who make rental skis. Volkl, Salomon, Head etc. They all sponsor the best athletes in select categories. Head, Vonn. Volkl, Goepper. Salomon, Brown.
People who rent gear see these big names winning X games and the Olympics and want similar gear to what they have. It's pretty much the exact same as twelve year olds and full tilts/Wallisch. So for a company to rebrand their skis is wasting all the investments in sponsoring top tier athletes along with making rental gear.

I think if they tried to make something memorable it would just look silly. Block colours are the fashion right now, and oakley have come up with some quite nice colours.

WTR has benefits for a lot of people not just rental. Bros jamming their their touring norm boots into FKS 180s and then blowing their knees because their binding didn't release at all now have a boot sole option that at least blends the rocker/grip of touring and reliable release of an alpine boot. More non-rental boots are going to be WTR equipped or compatible in the coming years.

Rental consumers are asking for easier walking boots because (especially in Europe where the ski market is 60% rental, 40% sales) they really have no clue. You think there are joeys in the USA, come to Europe and watch the truly average skier from Holland try to walk in their normal alpine boots. They really do struggle.
They are also asking to have "non-rental" looking gear. They want to look like they own the skis- just like when you rent a car at the airport. Your rental car looks just like a normal car, not a special one-off that screams "rental".

True, but honestly their outerwear just looks like the same boring old stuff every year with different colours. They haven't had a cool interesting design in a while. And you dont even need funky colors for a cool design. Take the Belmont pants, simple colours but the actual pant design looks doope.

rental contracts are worth a tonn of money so brands want to do anything they can to secure them. If a brand has a boot whic is easier to walk in then the competion that is a selling point which may het them the contract.
And i I would disagree about sales compred to rentals. In my shop we rent the salomo xpro and the atomic hawx. I can't tell you how many sales we have made from people liking the boots and wanting to buy there own.
