zzzskizzzyou have no idea what you're talking about if you accept money from a coach or a booster you will be banned from college sports for life.
Chubz. They're at college to play sports not get an education like regular students. They're goal is to get to the pros.
acualywasdolanAll you fucking idiots dont understand that the guys who go to the pros get rewarded in millions of dollars for WHAT THEY DID IN FUCKING COLLEGE. The people who dont make it get rewarded NOTHING.
If you think thats fair you have a 100 iq
caucasian_chadThis is not even close to true.
Chubz.Yeah no you're right, the kids that get the full rides and will be playing in the pros didn't go to college to play their sport. They went there to get a free education!! NO. They are going to play football or basketball or baseball. They didn't go there with the mind set of getting a bachelors degree in engineering without paying a dime. They went there with the mind set of working hard to make it the next level of the sport.
acualywasdolanAbsolutely. They earn their respective colleges billions. Anybody who doesnt think they should be paid beyond scholarships is a retarded fuckboi. They should be payed according to their contribution to the amount of money the college earns through them
Nobody watches womens sports however, so they can get fucked
caucasian_chadWrong, stupid, they got a free education so they can still find a decent-paying job.

alevIf you get paid/supported to do something (i.e play a sport), are you not a professional? So how do we draw the line and differentiate a collegiate pro from a pro? It does't make sense to me that we would pay college athletes to perform.
caucasian_chadNo. I don't really feet bad for D-1 athletes. At all. They don't even know how good they have it. I was on the ski team when I was in college and we were a club sport. Guess what we got from the college for representing out school on the national level? Barely anything. We had to buy and maintain our own ski equipment, pay dues, pay for all travel expenses, pay for out lift tickets at each race, and if we went to nationals, the school would generously kick in about $100 per athlete to help cover our trip that cost about $1000 per athlete. Meanwhile, the D-1 athletes get all sport related expenses paid for, get free housing, and get either free tuition or a sizeable amount covered. I don't resent the fact that it works this way, a school in northern Minnesota can make money by having a hockey team, but not by having a ski team, so obviously the program will see benefits from that. But D-1 athletes who think they should get paid by a university can shut the fuck up. They already see MANY other benefits that other college sports teams could only dream of, yet they're still whining about what they don't have. There's something common among all college athletes at any level. We are all competing for the love of the sport. If you don't love the sport and you just want to make money, then quit. No one is forcing you to compete if you don't want to.

acualywasdolanHelp me out here! Like 70 percent of the polltakers in here voted no. A cataclysm of retRdation going on here

zzzskizzzThere's not really much to say, if you just looked at the stats college sports brings a profit of 6 billion dollars a year. I don't know where kids think that money goes. Plus a court just decided that college athletes can unionize and get paid. so it doesn't matter what 80% of new schoolers think, because this year some of them will be getting paid.

Edward.Wouldn't you want to be compensated for having a popular video game base a character off of you? That's just one example. I know its not like every single D-1 athlete can be found in a video game by the NCAA, but if an athlete's name is being used to advertise or bring in more money for the NCAA, but they should be compensated, at least modestly.

KravtZA full ride , free textbooks, access to the amazing athlete gyms, full training staff, unlimited food, travel to games, hotels, etc should be enough "payment" to a student athlete
