I live in idaho. And it seems like every other skiier in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, etc., has a Subaru. I have a 2002 Outback. It's red. Anyway I was just wandering who else has Subarus because the seem like popular cars for skiiers. What subie do you have?
Titus69OK bro
Considering mechanics have left their jobs because of mini's and that there in the forum explains why they suck explains that I havent retained any knowledge of the subject.
First off, that link doesn't work. And if you're a mechanic who is flustered by working on a mini then you are not in the right line of work. BMW's are not abnormally unreliable and Mini's don't have an abnormally large engine...its a 4 cylinder in a compact car. I have a V6 in my R32 which is roughly the same size as a mini and mechanics aren't killing themselves over having to service R32's or sedans with V8's in them.

My first car was a 98 legacy wagon, beast in the snow. Second car was a 04 jetta 1.8t gls, pretty fun but not as reliable. Now I am a happy owner of a new wrx hatch. So much fun to drive, plenty of room inside and absolutely smashes with snow tires on, much fun.

Yeah I once I make some good cash I want to sell my outback for a wrx hatch...they're kinda like a dream car to me haha..I just think they look so sick and they're fast and good on snow so that's a plus!

Unless thats youre realistic dream car, you gotta raise your standards. My realistic dream car would be an Evo X or a Mazdaspeed3 but my real big dream car is a Ferrari F40

My realistic dream car is a fully built 95 Impreza Coupe with the EJ22T engine.... Would be such a wicked fun little car to rally in the snow, and you can get them up to about 200 hp in a tiny little coupe.

I wish we got 22b STI's, the best model yet. My current dream like said is an Evo X with a fully built 4b11t and caged and ready for a rally stage.

You have to go with a nissan gtr for a dream car 545 hp and awd. And if you have money can easily get that hp number higher.
I have a 97 impreza outback sport that's been through hell and back with me right now. Once I have enough money saved up for a down payment I'm getting one of these:

Is that the new Subaru WRX MR edition?
Get an STI instead, more power and better looking with that spoiler. Both are still ugly and copy's of Mitsubishi.
Thizzle. You and every other 16-22 year old skier...
i was actually close to getting one. found one for a steal, just couldn't pull off the extra cash and i needed a car.

and yeah its more of a "what i can afford" dream car. I really like some of the new corvettes and i have ridden in a ferrari modena 360, california, and maserati gt. all three sick cars, especially the maserati with the red interior

I know what you mean. Ive considered getting an 04 wrx since its the cheapest fun car I can buy thats not an Evo
I owned a 05 outback XT, a 96 2.2L legacy wagon, and now a 2006 2.5i impreza wagon. Love my impreza the most but have a huge respect for the legacy wagon I owned. I sold it at 350,000 miles and the person who I sold it to is a friend and has well over 400,000 miles on it now.
Currently on my third Subaru. One sold/flipped, one totaled in a blizzard in Maine (hit a fucking horse trailer with one taillight turning into a gas station), on my current 2002 Outback.

That makes me feel good. I'm copping a Legacy L when I get back to Bozeman next week but I only have a few grand for it so I'm likely looking at one with 170-200k miles.

I bought that legacy I owned at 300,000 miles for $500. I put in some springs and new drum pads and it passed inspection in new hampshire. Just be a dick about bartering with your money and you will get a hell of a deal.

You know nothing...
Not dissing at all but the 6 cylinder engine we have is basically a straight 6 they barely angle (15) degrees so they could fit the engine in without altercation of the engine bay.
Basically an inline6 not v6

I'm gonna get the base model 2015 WRX.
You're obviously 12 or a trust fund baby if you think I can just "get" a car that costs 10K more...

Lol the fact that its 10k more is stupid. Get what you want its still gonna be a sick and fun ass ride. Im jealous you have the money for one. I'm even considering a nice 04 wrx once I have a good amount of money then sell my current car.
yangumaneour you can get an STI from a few years back
I could, but given the way STI owners drive their cars (not that I'm any different) and the way Subarus hold their value, I'm not real stoked on used. Plus there's a huge operating cost difference with the new WRX since it doesn't require premium gas. That'll save me a fortune over time since I drive quite a bit.
He is asking for way too much. Hes leaving the state and needs to sell. You can probably get that for 2.5K if you got all cold hard cash. He is also interested in trades. Find out what he is interested in.

In NH you can find them for around $3K and are unmodded usually which you should go for so you can do your own wrenching
Been seriously considering getting the new Crosstrek. Great value for what you get. Is it really worth the extra few grand over the regular impreza? I don't really go offroad at all just on road awd stuff is what I need. Did some serious snow driving this year in my Jetta which was awful surprised that thing tanked through 1ft +.
Cross trek is like 22k....impreza is around 18k. Heard the impreza and cross trek are both really slow though. Would definitely get the manual if possible as well.
Any other alternatives? Considered a 4 door wrangler but don't really want to spend that much on something since I only really drive on weekends and barely during the week anymore since working in the city.
I almost bought a 2002 forester for super cheap. It got listed then 2 hours later sold.
I was like fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu because I was in school so I asked my dad if he could go look at it and that's what happened.

I believe the Crosstrek has an extra 3" of clearance over the regular Impreza. If you aren't doing much offroading you'll be totally fine with the normal Impreza. Although if you plan on running roof racks I'd recommend going with a sport, the permanent rails add a definite sense of security (when paired with locking Thule aero bars).
I've got a '13 Impreza Hatchback 5-spd. It surely isn't a WRX with my measly 148hp but it gets fucking awesome mileage and is perfect for long road trips and commuting. Deep in my heart I wanted to get the '13 WRX hatch but knew that it would be foolish to do so, the MPG sucks in comparison, not to mention you have to fuel up with premium. Part of the main reason I sold my Tacoma was to get better mileage so I had to do it.
I test drove it and actually really loved it! It's an affordable car that does everything I need right now and usually clock in just under 30mpg as a spirited driver. If I was more conscious I've read of people getting 33+MPG.
Titus69NO. Dont get one, yes I want a 2 door mini cooper S. But theyre really not reliable since they tried fitting a big engine into a tiny space so doing anything slightly major requires an engine removal. Unless you got the money for it dont do it.
Taking the engine out isn't an uncommon practice in cars, especially when doing something, "slightly major."

You really like telling people what to do....
I love Subarus and really want to get one. I could afford an older Legacy right now but I'm going to keep saving for a nicer one or maybe, if I'm lucky, a wrx

Lol its pretty stereotypical for most people to say "just get an STI" when the other says "Im gonna get a WRX."
And there arent many people Ive talked to with a WRX as there "dream car"
but I have a CRV so I really shouldnt be saying this shit.
milk_manA wrx is my dream car.. Talk to anyone who knows me and they will confirm that.
Regular wrx's are just as sick as STI's in my opinion.
The 2015 WRX goes 0-60 a little quicker than the STI. (I will provide a Car and Driver link for this claim if needed.)
Well so be it, I just mean for a dream car usually I'd say a Ferrari f40 but well Im kinda with you..My dream car is an Evo. Im gonna quit being a fuckhead in this thread.
"The less powerful WRX may prove to be quicker than the STI to 60 mph because the STI likely will require two shifts to hit the mark while the WRX gets to 60 mph in second gear."

Seems like they are kind of speculating that a bit with the use of the word "likely", so let's hope that they are and sti is still faster it would be really odd for Subaru to do something like that.

Thats actually awesome, faster to 60 and cheaper. But I still cant stand the look of them, they took the front end from an Evo and made it ugly. 04-06 is the best wrx/sti IMO

Yeah I don't like the looks of the new ones either. I like 02-05 and 09-12
Anyone here know about putting a couple inch lift on a forester? I drive on shitty dirt mountain roads a lot and I'm thinking id like a couple more inches of clearance even though it clears them fine, be nice to have some breathing room.
It's a 98 2.2L Impreza with a custom paint job by my dad. It was in a bit of a front end, which crushed the original hood, and since it came with the red one, and was straight-piped as well, me and Pa decided to go all out with it. Personally, I couldn't ask for a better first car. It's been reliable, cheap, and fun.
Since everyone got on the topic of dream cars, I gotta go with the Stagea 260RS, the wagon with the RB26 in it:

Yeah maybe but I don't have anything to trade :( and the last Impreza Coupe I found in Seattle was a bone stock 95 with 100k miles and it went for 3 grand. I offered 2000 on it and he said sorry just sold it for 3... I doubt this one will go for less than 4.
