.MASSHOLE.Love watching the tour, unfortunately no one else in my house does. I try to watch bits and pieces.
Personally, I want Peter Sagan to do well, but other than that I do not know too many cyclers.
+k my friend! I love Peter Sagan! I really would like him to win. Unfortunately as a sprint rider his chances of winning it all are slim, but so far he's finished every race in the top 4. I believe that he will take the green and white jersey at the end.

He just seems like a real fun guy to be around in general and I like watching the sprint sections of the TDF hence my enjoyment of watching him.
Todays leg looked rough though. Froome ate it a few too many times.

Yes the crashes have been brutal, usually crashes aren't good (for the rider) but I've seen some hard hits this early in the tour.
And my dad got me watching it too. I remember lance was my favorite rider because I was a little kid and of course I liked the guy that was winning(he won that stage).

The Tour de France has to be the most challenging endurance competition on the planet. About eight years back the number one ranked male Iron Man tried to complete just one of the harder hill stages, and he couldn't.

Yeah. I think one of the more entertaining although dangerous parts of the tour were the idiots who took selfies on the side of the road. Some of those hits were big.
It was my grandfather who got me watching, he always loved watching it and when we would visit in the summer it would always be on.

Wow! I did not know that..I knew the TDF riders were crazy good but I didn't know they totally blew iron man riders out of the water. Then again triathlons don't ride as far and some stages in TDF is 100+ miles but that is still pretty crazy
I'm hoping for trek team to do well, they seem like they could be strong. Also anyone else surprised by froome dropping out?

But froome and cavendish are out cuz of bad crashes I think.
And I also think kittel is overrated. He is a crazy sprinter but his overall time is not great and the reason he doing so well on his sprints, IMO, is because he is so freaking tall! Being tall definitely gives you an advantage. I like Sagan for the sprints and young rider.

Yesterday they had a 30min. discussion about what was the best tasting green tea, whilst completely ignoring the ongoing race, according to a faceless voice named Graham, (seriously, every Eurosport commentator is called Graham) I should get some Harney and Sons but David was adamant that Mariage Frères' offering was superior in the way the bouquet unfolded itself upon the baptizing of the leaves.

if you are watching something and not paying attention, they you probably shouldnt be watching it in the first place. find something better to do with your life

He almost definitely won't win the white jersey. Can't climb or time trial well enough. But he is very fun to watch, and is pretty much a lock for the green jersey.

Yeah, but I bet the tour riders couldn't do the toughest Iron Man competition, either. Or at least couldn't do it well. Swimming and biking are just too different, I think.
And pretty sure Hesjdal isn't riding this year.
I hope Talansky, and Tejay do well. Talansky has had some pretty bad luck so far, but still plenty of time to make up for it if he rides well. He probably won't win at this point, being a few minutes behind already from crashes, but can definitely finish top ten if he can keep up with Contador and Nibali in the hills, who seem to be the two favorites with Froome gone. I've always had a soft spot for Valverde ever since he beat Lance in a stage in 2005, so I hope he also does well.
I live in Sheffield, it was awesome to have the TDF come through. More people went to see the tour than went to ticketed events at the olympics, basically all of Yorkshire really bought into it and came out to see it. The atmosphere was incredible and after the cycling it just disintegrated into a party that went on way past sunrise.

Well Contador's fall means this stage just got a lot less dramatic. Wonder if he can catch up and recover. Seems like even if he does he'll lose time eventually. Really hard to fall and then not get dropped again eventually in the mountains when you're trying to ride with the very best guys in the race

God I love the tour, I grew up listening to Bob Roll and Phil Liggett every July of my childhood haha.
This year has been nuts, kind of a cool stat: of 10 stages so far, one half have been won by Germans (& my fave Marcel Kittel)
Haven't watched today but I can't wait to see the drama, too bad a Frenchman couldn't win the stage on Bastille day! Contador was my favourite going in but I'm getting behind Valverde or maybe Porte now - that guy basically did all the work up the mountains in 2013 for Froome and got little credit so it's going to be cool to see if he can do it on his own.

For sure. Valverde can probably push him, and maybe Porte, but it will be hard since he's already missing a couple of teammates. Who knows, maybe even Van Garderen. He was right up there with Porte and Valverde yesterday, at least.
cancellara only dropped becase he was getting ready for world cup or something. Plus he really isn't needed. But I think frank and haimar from trek actually have a good shot of placing well. I really want that team to do well as I ride trek and have grown up on it.
I still don't see why the commentators are saying valverde has a chance. Everytime he attacks or tries to stay with nibali, he gets dropped. Final standing will be
