hippy. No I had Line Skogans before these and I'm looking for a ski just like that. I'm willing to get whatever ski! Here is what I'd like in a ski
1)Poppy
2)Buttery
3)Light
4)Durable
5)Price
What ski matches those 5 traits to a certain extent?
I have took everyones suggestions in to account and this has helped me a lot so far!
To some extent those things are mutually exclusive. Poppy and Buttery, are almost by definition a trade off. So are Durability and Price, you get what you pay for. I've owned the recoil but I found them too stiff. A similar ski but a bit softer is the chronic, though they may still be stiffer than you want.
Skis are generally getting wider, especially the 'buttery' models, and that means they aren't that light. It doesn't sound to me like you are looking for a wide park ski in the mould of the Blend, Al Dente, Soul Rider, Kartel or Candide 2.0, because they tend to cost more and weigh more and you are on the east cost anyway. Just about anything rockered will be more buttery than the recoil but I would say the best 3 options are: Halo (B-dog next year), Filthy Rich and Candide 1.0 (2015 model).
I haven't ridden the Filthy Rich but read B.Walmer's review for more on those. I've owned og Halos and briefly skied the new wider model, which is much better (I think the softened B-dog version will be even better). They have low swingweight, are fun to butter and seemed bombproof, the construction on Armadas is solid.
I've briefly skied the 1.0s and they were a lot of fun, midsoft flex (softer than the Filthy Riches or Halos) and use 2.5 x 2.5 edges like the FR. They have a good bit of rocker in the nose and less in the tail (more like Halo) and a decent amount of camber underfoot.
They are all similar skis with a decent amount of rocker and camber underfoot. All around 90 underfoot, all poppy but butterable, all durable and of normal weight, none of them all that cheap. Hopefully that helps.
