I noticed that the icon on my NS bookmark and tab was changed to the newschoolers stack logo instead of the NS logo.
The logo also used to be in the upper left corner of the site. Is it being replaced permanently by just the words?

Lord_ByronIf only they had the rights to ns.com.
TheSeaCaptainI just checked what ns.com actually is and I got sad.
theBearJewHow is that related to ns.com I don't get the similarities between the url and where it takes you.
cultraraDammit Bishop, I demand answers
cultraraAll a purple name means is that the user posts vids, articles, or pics to NS and can get paid for it if they are popular enough.
swordsandpensIMO the old NS favicon was better than the current "new school ers" because the current one is barely legible

Mr.BishopWe're fucking with it. We'll get something that works.
TheSeaCaptainTranslation:
Calm the fuck down!
swordsandpensNo I'm pretty sure it was a normal response to constructive criticism I offered, considering I am a web designer it's sort of in my area of expertise so I figured I would offer some insight. That is all.
Mr.BishopYeah we definitely know that the favicon isn't ideal. TBH we thought we could sneak the text in there... and this is pretty good but you can still tell its sketchy.

cultraraI asked someone who was unfamiliar with the logo what they that the favicon said, and they had no idea.
Whats the motive with changing up the logo treatment?
El_Barto.Bring back the old logo you pussy

MLJTo all of the people saying that it sucks, thats not the point. The point is that they are changing it, which means that although it might not be the best at the moment, eventually when they iron it out and mess with it some more it will be better than the old one. Also I agree with the branding, and you gotta change it up we cant all live 5 years ago.
You people hate change way too much. Remember a few months ago when the big forum layout change came about? Everyone bitched so much but now it is a huge improvement over the old one and allows for so much more improvement to come to the site.
Thanks admins, I think what you did with the splash page was the best. Maybe if one of you posts a thread in SD when a change like that comes around so that we can offer constructive criticism and opinions, because like ^^^ There are people on here who know a lot about this kind of stuff, and after all the site is made for the members so why not see what they like!
swordsandpensDude it's not even hating I'm offering a legit constructive opinion. You don't seem to realize that websites are more than just what you see. There is a thing called UX (user experience) and this falls directly under that. If you can't identify something then that indicates it isn't legible and needs to be adjusted properly for UX and branding purposes.
TLDR; you need to relax

Mr.BishopNow, I REALLY agree with you that sites are way more than just what you see. Lots of people dont' get that.
However, the favicon being under UX is a bit of a stretch. I 100% know its not perfectly legible, but in my opinion I don't think that the overall UX is affected by a slightly shitty favicon.
The favicon is way more of a branding piece than UX. If you'd just stuck with 'dude that looks horrible come on' I'd be with you a lot more. It does look bad... we thought we could get away with it but I think I'm calling it a failure.
Lord_Byronwell i dont think it LOOKS bad, actually those clean bold letters look pretty good, its just doesn't seem very good from a branding perspective.
But you guys seem to be on a positive track, NS as a logo is pretty fucked. Imagine a new skier seeing an NS jacket at his local hill. He has to see NS, either talk to the person or deduct that it stands for newschoolers, then subsequently figure out that its for the website newschoolers.com.
Cool for existing member's, pretty backwards for building a recognizable brand.

NinetyFourWell it's not that hard to google NS Ski and get the site as the top search result, so I feel what you have to say is quite invalid. Or if a person is curious they could just ask...
And the reality is that the true Newschoolers logo as per the media kit is this guy:
Which was branded at events like so:
Along with being being stitched onto jackets like so:
Not to mention it's going to be stitched onto the upcoming season's collab jacket; I feel like it would have been smart to leave the 'old' logo around until all of the product branded that way rolled out:
I don't see how there will be any kind of positive change to the site's brand and feel by simply eliminating the part of the logo that has been extremely synonymous with the site for the past 5 or so years. Even more so Newschoolers has been NS since day one, through all of the logos.
