Best ski AND surf location in the US (or canada)

So I obviously ski all winter, but I own a jet ski and have been trying to get into wave-riding skimboarding, though I would surf it was feasable. Skimboarding gives you more flexibility when you can't check out wave conditions each day. I live in CT and have the states largest lake in my town, but its a 3 hr drive to VT and a 2 hr drive to jones beach.

I have to imagine somewhere you can go ski in the winter with like a 30 minute drive and also hit up the ocean in the summer with a similar drive. Sacramento seems to be a half way point between the beach and tahoe, but I wonder if there's something better.

I guess for a lake/ski situation Burlington VT is great, I always wonder how windy lake Champlain gets.

Port Angeles WA, the Bay Area and LA are the only places in North America that come to mind. Maybe Nova Scotia but I have no idea what skiing there is like.

Also, if you need a jet ski to tow you into waves on a skim board, you should probably just surf them.

Vancouver island, good surfing (if you're cool with really cold water), and there are some good skiing spots on the island, like mt. Washington, and if you want, whistler's only a few hours away.

My bad I was confused. And also like the other guy said, Vancouver Island is good too especially if you're into hiking and biking as well.

An hour away from Mt. Hood and an hour away from The Oregon Coast
The Oregon coast has decent surfing and amazing flatland skimBoarding
the only downside is the water is like 55 degrees

Yup, definitely the closest distance between surfing and skiing that I can think of is on Vancouver Island. The Bay is another solid option.

I mean, new jersey has skiing and surfing. The skiings sometimes good (if you've got jersey style standards for snow and terrain) and the the surf is good in the winter, or if we keep getting storms like arthur.

If you can live near or on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH
you have a lake there 10 minutes to gunstock 45 - 1 hour to loon
beach is only 45 mins away

If you live near a mountain or ski a handful a year than yeah our conditions are good, driving to Vermont is just the better idea. Surf is great year round really, but obviously has it dead spots mostly in the winter. Manasquan, NJ off the jetty is an awesome spot to surf. Some other spots i could share but eh.

you can totally wave ride skim from the beach. What the hell do you need a jet ski for? at the most, buy a bungee. 3 or for tanks of gas would pay for the thing.

You can pull a LJ strenio and surf and ski in one day at the hood.

ive been trying to figure out the same thing my whole life.

Hate to admit it but here on Long Island its not so bad. As much as id love to move to Colorado the thought of not being close to a ocean makes me sick. I am 10 mins from surfing and 1 1/2 hours from the closest ski area

Granted the waves i surf and the mountains on the east are pretty mediocre is still possible to do both. And I stop surfing at the end of October and start skiing the same week. Kinda cool.


but im sure somewhere in Cali is the best place.

I live an hour and a half from big bear and 45 minutes from newport beach which is a haven for skim boarding / bodysurfing... the snow is pretty chitty tho

This seems to be a sweet triple threat. I guess the thing about cali is even if I was a few hours from the beach, its consistent surf so I could go whenever. Long Island I drive down 2 hrs and have to hope there's decent waves.

One of my college professors moved out to san fran and he gets in like 60 days a year at tahoe. Then again, now he just teaches online classes so he has plenty of free time.

Living in Comox might be the ideal location for BC for the mix of surf and ski. However, its still a couple hour drive to the surf. And easily a 6 hour process of getting to whislter.
