Any other NS' spearfish?

Was just wondering if there were any other Spearo's on NS?
It's my favourite way to spend time in the summer, we don't get huge fish in Scotland but big enough to eat and really tasty if cooked right, also lots of lobster!. A lot of the time it's just enjoyable to dive and look at the sea life without the speargun.
Any other spearo's here feel free to leave your photo's/storys on this thread (no scuba spearfishing though)

I usually go spearfishing when im in hawaii, it is a lot of fun. but the type of spear fishing i do at home is for sheefish which is also a lot of fun but it is more along the lines of wading out into a river at night with a lantern and long spear/harpoon and try to sneak up behind them until you are close enough that you can spear them.

spearfishing is super fun, but can get sketchy. i wouldn't recommend doing it in places that could have sharks. the sharks will go for the fish and if your in its way your in trouble. I've heard some gnarly stories of people trying to hold on to a big fish and getting chunks of them bitten away by sharks.

Thankfully thats not something I have to worry about, we get seals that will come up and try and steal our fish , or nibble our fins, but they're pretty friendly on the whole. Sometimes they stay with you during your whole dive and just spectate. Man sharks would be scary, beautiful creatures though.

I would be more worried about blacking out, a friends son blacked out near the surface and unfortunately wasn't seen by his buddy till to late. Always keep an eye on your partner!

I do! Shit is fun! I only do lake stuff so no sharks to worry about, but I get some decent fish every once in a while.

i do...when I can....i.e. when I'm somewhere with clear water. last time i went was in belize and we nabbed 4 lobsters and more fish than 12 people could eat.

Yup. I had a book on shark attack stories and like 3/4 of them were spearfishers. I respect spearfishers alot, but doing it in shark infested water is just stupid

spearing survival rate = 0 haha. That is if you hit the fish

I gotta assume that getting shot with a spear gun is a pretty efficient way to die

you have a pretty good idea of the size of the fish before you shoot it, which is one reason spearfishing is so sustainable. Unless you are in very deep open ocean for long time with no reference to help judge fish size
