Ski With Mono

I'm going out west on thursday to ski park city, but I think I have come down with Mononucleosis. Now is it extremely bad if I ski with mono, do I run the risk of death or anything, has anyone done it?

Buddy of mine was out for the beginning of the season due to mono. HE just getting over it now. I guess it depends on the severity of the case. I the early stages, you're probably alright, just make sure it doesn't get worse! That will be hell. Also, it's contageous to some degree, so watch out for that aswell. No risk of death though, unless you continue to when it gets really bad (if it does)

I heard stuff about enlarged spleen should I just pad the upper left half of my abdomin and take it like a champ?

Yeah the spleen probably gets hit the worst, and yeah. Do your best to keep yourself protected for sure. And don't ski to the exclusion of rest and sleep, because that's what you're going to need alot of. Good luck with it, heh

my brothers, friends sister died from mono a while back she was wakeboarding and fell and that was enought to rupter her spleen so i personally wouldnt tkae that risk but i also have had mono twice.

first, if you are not sure you should go to the doctor, you can get a blood test for mono and you will have the results in half an hour. second of all it indeed swells up the spleen greatly and a fall on it can indeed easily rupture it. presonally i think its stupid if you ski because that chance exists and i dont think its worth dying over.

yeah. just dont ski unless you wanna fuck yourself up bad. i know it sucks but its better than rupturing your spleen or something and being out for a whole season.

DON'T ski, first get blood tested, even then, do it twice. My first blood test didn't work. I'm the guy out from the beginning of the season. If your spleen burst, you have 30 minutes to get into surgery. Mono enlarges your spleen so that it is exposed from the cover of your ribs. It also becomes more sensitive to being hit. Don't ski if you think you got it because Mono is shit, I was in the hospital for one week on oxygen and IVs and then homecare for a week. Its not as bad in most cases, but watch the fuck out.

I got mono right after ski seasong last year and it lasted like 2 months, during which i slept almost constantly. It took me like another 4 months to completely get my strenght back. I would suggest waiting a few weeks to shred.

buncha people were talking about a spleen some posts before... whatever you do, just don't rupture it, 'cause that can happen if you have bad mono and do real strenuous activity.

there is only a CHANCE that the spleen is enlarger, but as everyone has said, if it bursts, you could die. I had mono last season and was out for a week. that's all it took for them to determine if I had an enlarged spleen or not.

my cousin ruptured his spleen snowboarding with mono. i would suggest not doing it if you like being alive.

dont risk your health for some skiing, if there was even a slight chance of really injuring yourself or dieing I wouldnt take the advice of newschoolers but i'd see a doctor
