Failed summer setups?

Am I the only one who spent a lot of time effort and money making a backyard setup that ultimately did not work? Mine was originally designed for my friends sloped yard so it only has a 5 ft drop in, but his parents weren't buying it. It then got transferred to my flat backyard and it simply does not provide enough momentum.

So now it sits, only to be used in the winter. Has anyone else built a setup that didn't pan out?

Build it bigger!


Depending on how it's looking you might be able to slavage the tower and extend the posts. Check out build a jib cult for some speed ideas. Maybe if you throw some lattice down you can get enough speed to slide a rail.


Idk. Don't give up hope. Toy around with it and see if you can make it work

In the same boat brotha! I spent about 100 bucks last summer (split with another friend) to make a sweet summer setup as well. We made a box out of wood, coped it with pvc, made a drop in out of 2x4s and plywood, and it ultimately just didnt get you the speed nor control you needed to throw anything serious. Seriously sucks

like a month ago i tried laying down some cardboard on top of plywood then made a wood kicker. Got just enough speed to make it to the sketchy homemade kicker which snapped under my weight every time i tried to redesign it

Cut the sides out of plywood. Put 2x4's across every foot. Lay the ply on that = easy cheap and you won't break it. also can add whatever transition you want when you draw it out/cut it.

my drop is about 5 feet but works pretty good. do you use anything on the drop besides turf?

Try that orange snow fence shit. It gives you a lot of speed.

I have the opposite problem on mine. I get too much speed and pretty much have a 3 foot gap between the lip and rail and still land a good 3-4 feet down the rail haha

Of sure If u typod or if I just don't understand but it sounds like u want me to ski on wood and nothing else

i built my setup to survive a god damn nuke. hint: don't use wet tissue paper as building material. real hint: fucking triangles everywhere. not sturdy enough? more triangles. triangles sideways. vertically. perpendicular to the already sideways triangles. makes more triangles inside of those triangles.

we spent 200 dollars and i built this massive setup but i never finished it and we went to college with nothing but a memory and a swipe on our parents credit card

My setup is built to last, galvanized bolts, outdoor screws, pressure treated everything. I've tried the orange fencing and it didn't do anything. I think m snow is my last option but I don't have the funds for that. There's no way I can extend it, it weighs like a huge amount, i can't just jack it up. At least i'm not alone.
