RusticlesHow do you like the shredtown? I'm on Ronix ibex with Shane boots, but would love to get a slingshot Lyman though
Ronix kole for surf
Gn4rwh4lerI love the shredtown, it has lots of control for being such a flexible buttery board. I used to have a CTRL board but the shredtown is so much better. A buddy of mine has the Lyman and swears by it, I've tried before and it is a pretty nice board. I would definitely recommend a slingshot, Ronix knows how to make product that breaks easily.
RusticlesRonix kole for surf
plyswthsqrrlslooking to get into more surf-style than skim, do you like the kole? how is it down the line, a ton of pumping I guess?
thinking about having a soulcraft jetty or custom doomswell made for next year, coming from a phase 5 danielo diamond
RusticlesIt's fast compared to most surfs I've ridden, also l's more prone to diving than others, however it handles phenomenal, much more of a "surf" feel than skim. I find it
Much better if you want to get more aggressive with the wave.
plyswthsqrrlsNice good to know. Have my wake absolutely dialled for skim but for surf, might need to load the ass of the boat down more and get some height.
Currently running 2350 lbs of ballast lol
SteveIrwinDo you like the hyperlite boot and binding system over a traditional boot setup?
What are the pros and cons
Gn4rwh4lerThe system bindings are great, they feel like you have less ankle movement which is a pro for me, the teeth on the straps rip if you take too many diggers though. I've had to replace the heel straps once already. I wouldn't go back to any other binding though!
SteveIrwinDo you ride boat or cable
RusticlesSome things that I've found work really well is getting at least one large standing on the edge of the boat hanging onto the tower seems to be better than ballast. Also turn the boat slightly in the direction of surfing (left wake=left turn). Makes a better wake plus you're always going in a large circle so no one really needs to drive.
plyswthsqrrlsYeah it all really depends on the type of riding I'm doing. If I'm just out for a cruise I find turning the direction of the surf-side is easier to stay in the pocket and just chill but if I'm trying new tricks or whatever I prefer to go straight, the wake just stays cleaner at the top I find.
Ballast wise, I've spread it out relatively well. 400lb sack under bow-port seat, 400lb sack under mid-port seat, 400lb in rear compartment, and 400lb on stern-port seat (with the 750 or so that comes factory on the boat). Kicks out a mean wake at that point, between knee and waist from the bottom. Pocket is pretty long as well but might add more ballast up at the bow to lengthen it out a little more
