Speed checking?

Hi everyone. so overshooting and knuckling sucks. How do people speed check? Is that when skiiers ski right up to the edge of the jump and just stop? If not, what is that and why do people do it?

people ski up to the edge of a jump and stop because they don't have enough speed or didn't want to hit it. If you are questioning speed you should ask a skier or snowboarder that has hit the jump if you can follow them into the jump there is no shame in doing that. A lot of skiers/boarders like helping people out around the mountain.
