Speed checking?

Hi everyone. so overshooting and knuckling sucks. How do people speed check? Is that when skiiers ski right up to the edge of the jump and just stop? If not, what is that and why do people do it?

I always bring a midget and a sled gor gauging speed. Just line em up and if he clears it you're good.

Its when you pizza during your drop in to slow down cause you think you're going to fast. skiers do judge speed sometimes by skiing up to the lip and stopping.

ask someone else in the park what the speed is like or make your least favorite friend be guinea pig.

That can be called a speed check or you can take checks/carves as you're coming up to the jump if you're going too fast.

its a check the resort gives you when you pass a certain speed designated by each resort, sorta like a high score, or an accomplishment in a game to level up. You may then cash the check and fuck bitches

Remember, the speed guns are located in the bright orange "SLOW" signs on the mountain, usually located in beginner areas.

There are some expensive goggles from Oakley that act like google glasses in a way of that it shows your location and speed in real time. Also there are certain apps that can show you your speed real time with less accuracy.

so a speed check if the jump hasn't been hit requires experience from either the skier or the guy watching.
either you go the speed you think you need to go and then stop or ski beside the jump a few times, or either (and preferably) do the exact same thing with a guy watching from kinda far and then he can have a better idea of where you will land seeing how long and kicky the jump is.
and if everyone knows the speed and they say yah just straightline from here and then speed check at about 50 feet from the jump, that means ditch a bit of speed but not alot.

you can spend $300 and buy those Oakley googles that tell you your speed, then try and find a friend on the mountain with the same googles because you probably don't have any
