so a speed check if the jump hasn't been hit requires experience from either the skier or the guy watching.
either you go the speed you think you need to go and then stop or ski beside the jump a few times, or either (and preferably) do the exact same thing with a guy watching from kinda far and then he can have a better idea of where you will land seeing how long and kicky the jump is.
and if everyone knows the speed and they say yah just straightline from here and then speed check at about 50 feet from the jump, that means ditch a bit of speed but not alot.
