ThurnisHaleyAre you fucking serious?

And I'm not hating on you or talking superior like you wouldn't know who KRS is he was just the best example to use for what I was trying to say. Who better than the teacher of hip hop himself? All I'm saying is that comment I quoted specifically had you saying that Kendrick Lamar was a talented hip hop artist. Now hip hop is a lifestyle (as you know) and Kendrick does not meet that lifestyle so that, that was where I disagreed with you. Not trying to come off as some backpacker know it all, I'm just saying...
whoa-dereboth are terrible. lox, camron, ace hood, future all put out new music recently that are better than anything from tde

bpalmerin what way does kendrick not "meet that lifestyle"?
Randy_Quenchmacklemore is soft
PuzzledKuddos to you sir, its nice to see not everyone is ignorant to the true essence of MCing. Respect the music, know the roots, and, if you have the time, KRS is definitely a good start.

Thizzle.Hip Hop is a lifestyle representative of the struggle of African-Americans, and originated in an attempt to express the feelings and the issues of these people in NY at the time. MC'ing is only one aspect of a much larger culture that includes DJ'ing, Graffiti, and B-boying as well as a focus on uplifting and bonding within communities, and spreading acceptance and love. Kendrick is a talented lyricist who does rap about the struggles of life in the ghetto, but it takes a lot more than that to truly be a respected member of hip hop culture. Rap music lost this aspect over the last 20 or so years, and the rap game today is a shell of it's former self and I think a lot of the OG's like Shaka Zulu, Grandmaster Flash, etc.. would be disappointed with the way rap is viewed in society today, with Kendrick being a part of that.
E__This, and thizzle that was what I was trying to get at with my comment originally. Kendrick is a talented lyricist/rap artist (although I am not a fan) but not a hip hop artist.
ThurnisHaleyThe fact that you said future is better than kendrick is absurd.
Ski_AlotTbh they're both really talented rappers and I enjoy listening to them both very much. Good kid maad city is an awesome album and one of the few that I can listen all the way through and enjoy. But on the other hand, older macklemore like his The Language of my world is also incredible, that is another one of the albums like good kid maad city for me.
bring the hate
tldr: they're both good honestly

dandersonKendrick blows. TDE blows. If you ain't Glo Gang or Kanye, you aren't moving in the right direction musically.
snowballsdeepmy man G-eazy just went #1 with his new album, check him out if you haven't yet.
ThurnisHaleyOk chief keef.
dandersonGuy is easily one of the most innovative musicians right now.
TijmenDalThe state hip-hop is in is fucking disgusting.
RZA said it best 20 years ago, and his words are still holding truth today:

All those california thug, trap, R&B bullshit artists can suck a dick and fuck off. They're a serious joke. I don't understand how anyone can listen to that shit...
Kendrick has a couple good lyrics, but nothing too special imo. Granted I don't know him too well, but the stuff I do know (probably his more favorite songs) aren't all that impressive. And I don't like his flow at all. If that's who's the messiah of hip-hop right now, I think that says enough.

ZimmermanYou're just wrong. Sure, hip hop went down the absolute shitter from 2005-2010. Not many people contest that. But with the rise of TDE Beast Coast A$AP and Bruiser real good hip hop has made a comeback. Even Madlib just dropped another bomb named Cocaine Pinata. It's great. You should give it a try. Take off your "yesterday's gone" glasses
Pool.ab soul's new album is flawless imo, really excited to see what the rest of tde has this year because soulo set the bar high

ZimmermanSome food for thought:
I was at Hudson Project this weekend and saw Kendrick, Flatbush Zombies, and Isaiah Rashad. While Kendrick was good, on most songs he rapped like every other line over a recording and I wasn't overly impressed. Was not nearly as good as he was on the GKMC tour (saw him there too).
Isaiah really impressed the shit out of me. His voice sounded really good live and he didn't miss a word. Really connected with the audience too.
Flatbush gave an absolutely crazy and awesome show as usual. Hit every line perfectly even with frequently stopped beats.
So Kennick was hype and shit but wasn't too impressive. Both Flatbush and Isaiah's sets made me think THIS IS HIP HOP.
Thizzle.Very hype, I'm jealous. I have heard from friends that Flatbush puts on a killer live show. I was too broke to be able to go when they toured in Seattle and was pissed.
