I found out my oldest sister now smokes grits and she was lighting up some of her menthol cigarettes in my moms car over thanksgiving and I was like lol what the fuck is going on here. she said she would never, always got mad at cigarette smoke, now she puffs all the time.

I quit a little over 5 years ago. I miss chewing while working in the park honestly, but I don't miss smoking cigs anymore.

It's tough though. I quit for 6 months at one point and started again with people at work.

Just started applying for jobs in the USA

We haven't officially stopped working on my visa for Austria but it's looking so bleak at this point it's time to start. I emailed my boss yesterday and we're going to chat this week and figure it out. Either a miracle happens in the next few days or we're going to have to both make other plans.

Honestly would be pretty fucking gutted to lose a chance to work for schneestern because the austrian government hires shitty people.

Fuck

Obviously I'm hoping it somehow works out, but if not, I hope I'll be able to still find a good job somewhere. My luck at finding good jobs has been pretty rough. I've also turned down or skipped over some of the best options to wait for this job.

Not an epic situation.

Hopefully I can get in a cat somewhere or maybe snag a job in one of the better parks. Def not trying to work day crew at some beat mountain at this point though.

Fuck. Finding a good job in december is going to be tough.

Honestly between a few message boards I see the news before I could if I watched the news.

Also I prefer to avoid all the bullshit. It's great to be informed but until the news stations become less shit, I'm good on that.

The news states that everyone is a terrorist, everyone will die, and everyone should stay inside. Then they mix in some stupid story from across the country about how tanya went to the park today and saw her first butterfly and how proud her mother is. Then more stuff about how everyone will die. These guys bullshit political agenda, those guys bullshit political agenda, we're still all going to die, cute puppy photo submitted by retired couple gene and marcy. Traffic is moving really slow. Bad crash on i 6969, zoom in on some dead bodies. More political bullshit.

Best news IMO is reading a wide range of news from sources all over the political spectrum. Bias is always apparent in news and that's okay if you understand that it's there and account for it. It's generally easy to get a good idea of what's bullshit and what isn't when you get news from a variety of sources or an aggregate news site.

I would much, much, much rather be uneducated and ignorant than be under the impression that I know something because of a source such as buzzfeed, huff post, AJ+, occupy democrats, whatever bullshit republican equivalents, etc. and unfortunately about 95% of the people I interact with fall into this category.

Very true, but most people don't dedicate more than ~15-20 minutes at most to reading the news. If I were to choose one source it'd be foreign.

If it was multiple it'd be a combo of the BBC, NYT, WSJ, FT, and the WaPo. You have the BBC for the foreign perspective, WSJ and FT for the more fiscally conservative perspective, and the NYT and WaPo for the more liberal perspective.

I agree with the first part, but that's not what he was saying, or maybe he should have explained himself a little better than saying he'd rather be uninformed and say that being educated is some liberal PC bullshit. That's just ridiculous to say, honestly.

The issue is that our current generation chooses to seek out those biased agenda-ridden sources as news. I totally get we all don't have the time to sit down and get right down to the molecular level so to speak when it comes to topics/issues/subjects of all sorts, but its not entirely possible to find information about things for what its actually worth, We all do it in school with research papers when we cite scholars/journals/experiments/etc., so why can't we all do the same when it comes to issues that effects just about any living breathing human? I think a lot of us are way better than choosing to be ignorant because we have a hard time getting down to the bottom of things. It just seems like a cop-out.

I can't remember what it was about but there was "outrage" about an "article" on buzzfeed the other day. It was on fox.

I thought it was fucking hilarious that people take buzzfeed seriously enough to A. call it an article, and B. be outraged by it.

A new trend is to apparently make you have a password over 8 characters that has uppercase and lower case letters as well as numbers and symbols.

Then I keep getting locked out for fucking up the password or having to get a new one emailed to me.

The fact that I always have tool failures at work is such fucking bullshit and I'm sick of it. Its gonna start hurting my bonuses eventually and make me look bad when it comes down to the tools being fucking field test. How the hell should I be responsible for shit that hasn't even been cleared for sale to customers and is still under experimentation.
Should have been an easy 2 grand bonus today and I got fucked after working my ass off for the last two days. I hate to be the guy calling the manager at 3am informing him that we're having problems at site but I get left with no other option.
This stress is stupid and unnessary and I can't wait to go to the 2-1 schedule. Now I just need to keep hitting big jobs on holidays and hopefully can vacation all my time off.

Had plans to go to Jackson Hole for a few days with some old friends from back home but every single one of them bailed last minute. I always have to be the one to plan things in the first place and people can never actually fucking commit to anything. It's really not that hard to just say you're gonna do something and then actually do it.

Broke my fucking phone yesterday. I was on the treadmill and it fucking fell off of the console and landed on the tread and ended up getting stuck between the side of the treadmill and the tread. Cracked the screen, touchscreen doesn't respond, but it still makes noise and when I press the power button I can feel the feedback. Im still fucking pissed though.

But you don't have to spend an hour every night watching CNN or fox. Watching the news on tv is not the only way of being informed, nor is it the best. We don't even have cable at my place, but it takes me maybe 15 minutes daily to hit my bookmark for Google news and see what's going on in the world. Seriously, just bookmark a news aggregator, people act like staying informed politically is hard work. It really isnt.

On the plus I started getting callbacks for jobs in the states today. Some pretty good options as well.

Considering it's december, the time you DONT want to be looking for these jobs, I'm feeling optimistic about things.

I applied like 4 years ago but they never got back to me. Worst thing was that it was an all hand written application. Don't even know if they ever even looked at it.

But yeah might again at some point. I think I might try to go to Australia this summer if I can. I gotta use my work holiday visa there in the next few years.

If you're smoking weed everyday to relieve stress then you need to find another way to relieve stress. Abuse any drug too much and it'll be bad for you. What if at her new job she gets drug tested and has to quit weed? How is she going to relieve stress when the only way she has learnt to relieve stress is through a drug?

S.J.WIf you're smoking weed everyday to relieve stress then you need to find another way to relieve stress. Abuse any drug too much and it'll be bad for you. What if at her new job she gets drug tested and has to quit weed? How is she going to relieve stress when the only way she has learnt to relieve stress is through a drug?

so strange how you don't like a job then you get to your last day and you're kinda bummed out.

oh well, I got 1%-ers and their condos to go deal with + pow to ski but ill probably be back here over the summer. I just cant stand slow seasons.
