-Oats-Trump and his nasty spray tan can go jump off a damn bridge. Revel bikes just closed for good because of tariffs. I don't if anyone else feels this way about tariffs but I think its a kick in the balls. Just freaking stupid.
Dude I'm sure a toooon of ski/bike/outdoor companies are shitting bricks right now. Tariffs are gonna fuck up so many smaller brands and shops for sure. Margins on this kind of stuff usually aren't great to begin with, and on top of that so much gear comes from China or over seas.
"Oh but Patty people will just switch to US based companies like Oh-nep and Moment"
Sure dude, but where do you think they're buying their materials? There's 2 manufacturers of ski edges in the world, neither of them are US based. In fact, a ton of specialized ski and snowboard material/equipment comes from over seas. I always tell people about the fencing that ZeroZone uses at the hike park- the standard ski fencing with mesh and flexible fiberglass poles- is actually weirdly an ordeal to get. You would think something as simple as fencing would have tons of manufacturers, but nope- there's
one- and it's over in Europe. So every ski resort that uses that same fencing is ordering it from a single European manufacturer and having it shipped over seas, and it already is not cheap. And those are just 2 examples, there's going to be a huuuuuge shift in how skiing and snowboarding as sports operate if these tarrifs stick around longterm.
TLDR:// Tarrifs are going to impact almost every part of skiing (and other resorts) all the way from the gear we buy to the resorts we ski at.
