LonelyIf you weren’t already pro at 18 no sport is worth doing competitively. Doing it as a hobby, even a serious one, or as a way to be active is totally fine but unless you’re D1 and getting paid or ODP it’s just not worth it.

Yesterday I ended up in a very complicated surgery on another doctor (so he was a VIP I guess you could say) because the surgeon didn’t want the original assigned nurse and requested me.

It was supposed to be a down day for me because I’ve been busy all week. So today was suppose tto be an easier day for me to “make up” for it. I was just supposed to make sure my partner got lunches and breaks. So basically about 2 hours of assigned work over 10 hours. I usually find stuff to keep busy. It’s still nice to have down time and work at my own pace.

Well, it turned into me being invited to help interview a candidate for a manager position which was cool that they valued my input enough to invite me. Then after that I was called to a code (cardiac arrest) in the ER to bring them equipment only we had in the OR. The patient had a heartbeat when I got there, but I stayed on standby in case they needed me. They didn’t. So I go back to my originally assigned duties.

A different surgeon is running veerrry late so the nurse assigned to that procedure was due to leave by the time it actually started. Myself and one other nurse (the one I have ranted about on here before) were the only two nurses free to do that procedure.


My charge nurse (who I have a lot of respect for), assigns me to do it because if he asked the other nurse he knew she would give him a hard time and throw a temper tantrum.


Now, I can’t believe he said that out loud for one, and two, why is this fucking allowed? Why are people allowed to throw such a fit over being asked to literally do their job. I ran around the majority of my shift helping people and doing my stuff and now I’m being asked to do more, while this nurse is asked to do minimal work out of fear of a hissy fit. It is absolutely ridiculous.

Of course, by the time I finished my procedure, my manager was gone. But this has officially just gone way too far. It’s completely unacceptable and unfair to expect me (and others) to pick up another nurses slack like this. She’s fucking mean and lazy and a shitty fucking nurse. Does not know how to do basic nursing tasks like IVs, blood draws, even refused to help get vital signs!! Fucking vital signs! I’m literally going to lose my mind over this. Like actually might have a mental breakdown over the absurdity of this entire situation.

Is this something you can bring up with your manager? I understand management cater to people in ways but it shouldnt be like this. Is there a higher up that you could discuss with? Im not saying to undermine your manager, but something needs to be done. Good luck!

crimeenthusiasti get it…for a good pow run theres nothing wrong with a hoot and a holler but screaming the whole run down is annoying. worse if you are on the lift and scream any time you see someone else taking a run.
