I figured if we could rant somewhere we'd be more docile creatures in the rest of the forums.

Leave it to corporate America and shitty employers for forgetting to tell people that our paychecks will be delayed until Monday due to the holiday week. Rent and bills are due Sunday but at least my bosses and execs get to spend time with their families with plenty of $$$ in their bank accounts.

if your employer uses a payroll company then they would likely issue it pre holiday unless your manager or leadership didn’t enter it on time. i’ve always gotten paid before or on time. its a bad look to be late with money lol.

The biggest scam that no one talks about is if something terrible happens to a family member you are basically fucked. At my work, which is vastly more generous than most, you lose your health insurance the second you can’t work or post leave to cover 140 hours in any given month. The FMLA only protects your job for 12 unpaid weeks of leave, which is not very helpful if you happen to need a paycheck or health insurance during a medical crisis. It’s also absolutely mind blowing that the FMLA didn’t even pass in the first place until the 90s, it faced vehement Republican opposition until it was sufficiently watered down during the Clinton administration. People should consider the history when they think about what Trump will do the ACA. I am pretty sure his “concepts of a plan” is just a napkin that says “fuck you for getting sick” written on it

Takes about 2 weeks max to not hurt too bad, and then it's kind of a sharp pain if you do it wrong. Takes about 3-4 months to not really be noticeable anymore sorry babe.

Was on oxy and for months due to injury/surgery. Never felt the affects of it. When I had to stop taking it, I just stopped. Never understood the draw to it.

In general, no, guys are not ok. Especially young lower class guys have been left behind by modern western society.
Only 1/3 of college degrees go to men now. Young women make more money than young men. The male suicide rate is 4x that of women. Drug/alcohol addiction and mental illness rates are higher than ever before.
A lot of guys in this country at having a really bad time, and not much is being done to change that

addiction is not a will power thing. peoples bodies will react differently and some take oxy as prescribed and develop a physical dependency that is unsafe to quit. opioids are terribly harsh on the body. it’s insanely hard to will through something so gnarly. today its much more regulated so pain management is much different than it was during the opioid epidemic. even trump declared it an epidemic in 2017 for over prescribing. fuck opioids and fuck big pharma. i have zero trust in doctors these days

It's kind of swung too far in the other direction imo. I know several people who have had large, painful surgeries in the past few years and were given absolutely insufficient quantities of opiates

There is a huge swath of young men in America who have no purpose and no future, and this is especially prominent in skier/outdoor type guys.

If you have no purpose, no amount of mental health gymnastics is going to work.

I mean, that's a pretty harsh way of saying something that basically everyone has to go through: you have to find a way to self-actualize and find balance. I don't think people need to "harden" in any sense, they just need help finding the way to realizing that they are in charge of their own lives. I guess what I've never really figured out is why people seem to think that someone else is going to do it for them? Or also, why people think it's easier to go alone than to do it with a partner. I'm not really sure where people's heads are at right now.

Yup. “Inappropriate prescribing” goes both ways. Under treating pain actually increases risk of addiction because people will self medicate if they’re in excess/uncontrolled pain. The amount of people who go to the ER in genuine pain and are denied pain meds because they’re “drug seeking” is disgusting.

Or chronic pain patients who are used to the pain and normally function at a 7 or 8/10… so people look at them and assume they’re fine. But they’re still in severe pain and deserve treatment.

Truthfully would rather slightly overprescribe in the short term(emphasis on slightly and short term) than under prescribe in general.

The gap between men and women in college success is currently worse than it was in 1972 when title IX was implemented. Was it a mistake to help women get equal access to college funding? Should they have just hardened up and done better?
Our government and education systems have failed men and left them behind through 30 years of discrimination and apathy toward their problems. Sure, many men still do just fine and live great lives, but the number falling through the cracks is way too high. Individuals can be blamed for their personal mistakes, but men en-masse can't be blamed for society failing them.
